For all the questions about whether the Rams would call Tim Tebow after Sam Bradford suffered his season-ending knee injury, they didn't. They called a bigger-name, higher-profile quarterback. After the team lost Bradford to a season-ending knee injury, St. Louis called Brett Favre on Sunday night, asking whether the 44-year-old retired quarterback, who is now a grandfather, would be willing to leave his farm to plow through the back half of the Rams' schedule, league sources said. Favre hasn't played since December 2010, but that didn't stop the Rams from reaching out to Favre's agent, Bus Cook. One source familiar with the Rams' conversations said that if Favre took them up on their interest, "it could break Twitter." Yet the man who famously wavered over whether to play too many times to count didn't waver this time. Through Cook, Favre told the Rams that he was retired -- actually, really, officially. While Rams management is playing it off as a joke. As a long time Rams fan nothing surprises me anymore. Hell maybe we could call Montana,Marino, and Elway while we are at it. This team is falling deeper and deeper. Going from doormat to laughingstock. Very sad for a once proud team.
Yeah, they're passing it off as a joke to save face. It sounds just like a move this coaching staff/management would try. Wonder why anybody hasn't asked Farve if it's legit or not. He'd probably tow the company line and deny it anyway. At least we can now look forward to more high draft picks to squander this year. Wonder if Isaiah Peed himself's brother is available......or maybe Brian Quick to drop passes and get penalized's sister.....either of them couldn't be any worse. Betcha the Dolphin's owner is breathing a great sigh of relief for losing Fisher to us right about now.
I read that Davis and Favre have the same agent. When the Rams were talking to the agent about Davis they made an off the cuff remark something to the effect is Brett available all in jest they are now saying but who knows really. If it was a big inside joke how did the press get ahold of it? It could only harm the Rams so go figure.
Well, that would make a little more sense. Have to question the judgment of a staff that seriously entertains bringing back a QB that's been retired for 3 years, and went out with a whimper when he did retire. The reason it has any credibility at all is because of the performance of Fisher and his ASSociates to this point of the season. I guess the guy in TB is keeping the heat off Fisher for awhile anyway. But if not for him I'd say that Fisher would be up for "Lousy Coach of the Year" award. How do you just continue to have so many penalties? How do you continue to have such lack of discipline on the team? How do you continue to let your asinine OC, who you hired by the way, continue to waste the talent we have on this team? How do you continue to let a DC run a defense that was one of the better in the league last year, right into the ground? The excuses are many; we're a young team, we have different personnel, yada, yada, yada. They are still professionals getting paid ALOT of $$$ aren't they? If doctors or lawyers performed like this for this kind of money they wouldn't be around very long. Leadership is lacking on this team, from management to coaching staff. It's evident every time they take the field. Fisher talks the talk, but he doesn't walk the walk. Other than a couple good seasons with Tennessee, his trademark has been mediocrity his whole career. At least I can console myself with the fact that the Eagles are stinking the place out this year too. An Eagles loss is almost as good as a Rams victory to me.
My understanding is that Fisher is very well respected in NFL circles because he was or is on the rules committee. As to his record your right mediocre. Now he did get to a SB and they cant take that away. But he got there by the skin of his teeth many may remember and he had a great QB and RB. His first year was a gimme and he did well this year should have been the improvement year with clear signs showing the way. Not SB but improvement. The loss of Bradford cant be controlled but the complete freefall of the defense and the lack of a backup combined with wasted project draft picks and no coaching. Falls squarely in Fishers lap.
Yep, he certainly is supposed to know the rules, although you wouldn't suspect it the way his team incurs penalties. But unfortunately it apparently doesn't lead to coaching acumen. It is akin to the mechanic being able to fix a racing car, but not having the ability to drive it in a race.
Well I personally put in a call to Dan Marino and Jon Gruden. You know they are not as nice as they seem on TV they both got all bitchy with "how'ed you get this number!" And talk of a restraining order. I mean come on. Anyway neither seem too interested. lol
