Lopez, LaMarcus, Joel and TRob are going to come out with a mission to man up and show the Suns front court who the Alpha is. Lillard will be Lillard. Nico will shut someone down and have a few spectacular plays, but mostly facilitate for his team mates. Game, set, match. Our role players will be laughing on the court.

That Suns logo reminds me of my first project in 8th grade shop class. It was supposed to be a plate.

Is that seriously the Suns logo now? That is hideous.

I bet that is a big part of the game plan. That guy kills us.
I want to see Batum on him at least in the 4th Q.

Batum should be the designated pg stopper. I never understood why Nate went away from that strategy. I hope Stotts realizes that Batum's long arms and quick recovery time will frustrate the hell out of the other PGs

Nic usually looks pretty good against PG's. Even when they get around him, they know he's got those long arms and an open jumper or pass is always at risk of getting tipped from behind. It's the stronger swingmen that give him fits. He's an above average defender against quickness and a below average defender against strength, which washes him out as a pretty mediocre defender overall.

Lillard showed some pretty nice post defense in the preseason. Damian was so bad at defense last year that I can see why the coach didn't try having him guard a different position that often. But if he can not get posted up too badly while guarding 2's and even some 3's, it could be huge for Portland to have Batum focus on PG's.

In this game, I think Lillard will have a better time against Bledsoe than Dragic. Batum is a little suspect against the stronger SFs, but I think disrupting the pg will take that advantage away. Usually the stronger SFs (excluding LBJ) aren't good ball handlers or passers. If you take away their flow by pressuring their ball handler, we can force their terrible ball handlers to win the game for them.

Wouldn't be so bad without the longer sun lines on the bottom, but yeah, that just is not appealing to the eyeballs

Getting more and more pumped up each hour.

I'm not big on the idea of Nic guarding PG to start the game. It can create other mismatches and could put Nic in foul trouble early. I think you wait to see who gets hot or need to put pressure on.

On paper, Blazers should win. But it is a home opener for the Suns . . . got a feeling its nervous time for 48 mins in my man cave.

I 100% agree with you. Just like Stotts did against Golden State. He had the normal rotation, then used Batum in the third and 4th on Curry. I think Stotts must give direction to Batum, so he knows what to do and how to help his team.
