Look I like Wes. But he is not a good fit next to Damian over the long haul. Not his fault, but I just don't like the combination. This team plays better with 2 PG's on the floor. Or at least try more Batum and Wright together to see if it worked as well as it did in GS.
If everyone on the team he could pass to shoots 38% (or, if everyone beside LMA: 28%) there aren't going to be a lot of assist opportunities. If a few jumpers go down, or a couple less turnovers happen, and he goes for 32/5 or so, I don't see this being an issue. Yes, I'm waiting for a CJ/Lillard backcourt as well, but since that can't happen for another month or so, then I'm ok just rolling with what we have. I'd love to see the Professor back here, though.
We need a SG who can at least dribble next to Lillard. I'd like to see Williams next up to Lillard a little bit more the next couple of weeks to see if that works. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Lillard's a PG in the Derrick Rose mold. That's obvious to me. He averaged over 6 apg last season. It's not his fault his teammates, other than LMA, shot like a bunch of players in a pick-up game at 24 Hour Fitness. It's one game.
Okay, and? 4 points, 3-9 shooting, 1-4 from downtown against Phoenix 5 points, 1-5 shooting, 1-3 from downtown against Sac 11 points, 3-11 shooting, 2-5 from downtown against Utah 8 points, 3-5 shooting, 2-4 from downtown against Utah 4 points, 0-3 shooting, 0-1 from downtown against Phoenix 6 points, 2-10 shooting, 0-4 from downtown against LAC Tell me he isn't struggling right now...
Was it Rasta who suggested we look at drafting MCW and put him next to Dame as the primary ball handler? Oh boy. Should be a few old thread bumps upcoming after that monster debut.
the old dudes camping out at the 3pt line at 24hr Fitness generally go for better than 2-14, or they don't play.
I am actually really concerned with Matthews. He seems it's more than a funk. I really think his heart isn't in Portland anymore
The point of bringing up Wes is simple: * Wes is struggling * Lillard could be a shooting guard * If you move Lillard to shooting guard, who becomes the point guard?
His line was insane. 9 steals, 7 rebounds, 12 assists, 4-6 from 3pt ? wtf? How could so many people be wrong about this guy. I know it is one game, but serious? only 1 TO?
From the forensics, I thought Wes at SG next to Lillard played better than Mo at PG next to Lillard. Now, if you want to bring up having Wright and Batum in at the same time instead of Wes, I'm much more open.
Mags what are you talking about? He busted his ass out there. Not saying he played great, but the heart and the effort was there for sure.
No, I wouldn't be in favor of Mo starting. For Lillard to be effective at shooting guard, we'd need to bring in a passer. Someone like Andre Miller.
Sure, but you messed up Wes' stats from the game tonight, and basically blamed him for the loss. You started the thread, right? Then you brought up Wes, right? Then you were corrected on Wes' game, right? Then when I pointed out how bad Lopez and Mo W. were tonight, you said this wasn't a thread about pointing fingers, right? Oh well, whatever. I still think Lillard is a PG, because if he's a SG, this franchise is pretty much screwed for the foreseeable future.
