only if it was on a voluntary basis. They already tax the shit out of gas. I have zero desire to give them another penny.
It is an interesting idea, but would it work in conjunction with current taxes on gas or would it completely replace it? If it completely replaced it, then it would remove some incentives to be more fuel efficient, which benefits everyone when demand is lower.
the same could be said about a sales tax. The problem is the Gov never wants to give up a revenue stream, even to replace it with another.
That is why this new tax idea has come into being. They want to capture revue lost from those that would use little or no gas. There are others that want to make this all encompassing, excluding no one.
