You mean when people tried to blame McMillan for Batum's game, and I told them it was more on Nic, not McMillan?

Nic still just hoists 3's all game, btw.

If Lopez was the big upgrade I'd rather have Hickson

Batum is always gonna be like miles. Flashes of brilliance but never puts together on consistent basis minus drug issues

Well it wasn't, so you can go under your rock now. Without hickson, we were able to get Lopez, Mo and t rob. That is clearly better than getting hickson

You're not really doing a good job of convincing me that it's all about his contract.

Miles even had 10x more talent than Batum

    That guy was a waste

It's not all about his contract. I've always said I don't really care for his stye of play, and the fact he looks disinterested at times and is way too passive.

Now he's just overpaid and doing it.

How does a guy grab that many rebounds by being "disinterested?"

You can bitch and moan as much as you want, but he is what he is. He's one of the most versatile and gifted players in the league, but as is common with many people who have a gift that comes too easily, they do not fully appreciate that gift. I suspect he'll be one of those guys that can do amazing things whenever he really pushes himself, but that will be few an far between. Will he ever put it all together? Who knows. We don't need him to be the star on the team. We have Lillard and Aldridge. We can afford to have him be a question mark. The contract was based on the risk/reward of keeping him versus letting him go for nothing. It was either pay him or let him walk. He's still very young, so it's hard to say what he will be.

    WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

This Blazers team desperately needs him to be the 3rd piece to a contending team. After him there's NO ONE on the team that's really all that great. Nic is being paid to be that guy, not a question mark.

The Blazers have a roster that is deprived of talent. They need Batum to take that next step, not settle in to being a role player.

LMA needs to learn to just be Lamonster all the time, instead of needing a reason. That would be a great start.

I liked Hickson for what he was, but I knew that based on team need and the money we had to spend in improving the roster it simply wasn't going to happen. Too bad Hickson chooses to ignore that and take it personally. Must be a Denver thing. Maybe the high altitude negatively impacts logic.

Then act like it. Hickson has double the blocks as you do rebounds...

    Tonight just got more interesting.

I watched some of the LAC/GS game last night and that was testy as well. I like it. Lately everyone in the league is too buddy/buddy with one another.

I see where Hickson is coming from and have respect for his game. But he is with Denver now and really not overly concerned with his thoughts about the Blazers. Hickson may be fired up, but I like mags take that this may fire up Aldridge. And when Aldridge plays fired up, he is unstoppable on offense and plays good defense.

A role player is Dorrell Wright. You put so much weight behind scoring. Batum rebounds, passes, blocks shots, steals, and scores. We don't know what we'll get from him on a nightly basis, but how often is it an empty box score?

That's what I think. I suppose I would want that if I was an NBA player, but as a fan I wish there was a little more of players tacking pride in their team and wanting to intensely beat the other team every game. (That is what I love about the playoffs)

maybe Hickson's statements will spark up some high energy in this game.

    Thanks for posting, Sly.

If you want to get down to it and if Neil would elaborate what he meant to JJ, I don't believe it was a jab or slight at JJ. I think what he was basically saying for us to improve, LA needs to be a part of it and we need make him happy by bringing in a legit big.

Dude I don't know why you bother. Batum could get 30 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists and you'd probably get a response like "yeah but at the cost of Lillard and Aldridge's production.

No, that's not what he'd say. He'd say something about, "yeah this is great, but he can't do it on a regular basis."

JJ would have to be dumb to not understand the dynamics of the decision to let him go, and the fact the Blazers not only enriched him greatly by their treatment of him but also allowed him to be in a better position on the Nuggets. Whatever he has to tell himself to be motiviated, I guess.
