Move DZ, Boyle and a 2nd for Hemsky and Petry. I know all the DZ hangers on will scoff, but his value is deteriorating so they may as well add a skilled forward and a dman who's somewhat underrated. Hemsky has had injury issues but that dosen't mean he will for the one season he'd be in NY.
Petry is 2 years older than MDZ with worse numbers but he's underrated and MDZ is deteriorating? Pardon my scoffing. The pointless Pyatt who has no apparent specialty is the problem not Boyle, a cheap, effective role player. The sooner AV realizes and accepts this the better. Hopefully Pyatt is odd man out when Callahan returns, I'd keep Mashinter is the lineup over this lumbering, soft never-was.
I'd actually make Edmonton throw one of their excess dmen prospects in that deal to even it out. I guarantee DZ never hits his career best numbers again if he stays in NY. May as well turn him into some scoring help and a dman who's not any worse. Petry has a much stronger shot than DZ too.
71, you over value Hemsky so much it's embarrassing. I wouldn't trade MDZ for Hemsky and Petry straight up and neither would any other GM with a brain. MDZ has a ton of value around hockey. Other GM's and Sather aren't stupid to the fact this guy has unfairly be made the whipping boy of this team. He's 23. When his offense isn't there he doesn't look very valuable. However, he's not being used in that role. AV has McDonagh in that role right now. MDZ was a couple of points away from being in the top 10 for points in defenseman 2 years ago. A deal to Buffalo for say Foligno and the second round pick they got from the Islanders makes sense. Nobody wants Hemsky. He's a tin man. He's always hurt and this team has enough clowns like that. You don't make trades based off of what you think MDZ will do here. You make trades based off the fact this kid is 23, has a lot of offensive ability and can play 20 minutes a night. Newsflash. Basically, all of the Oilers defenseman suck and can't play 20 minutes a night.

+1 Del Zotto was completely mismanaged when he was 18, the organization should have sent him back down to the Ohl and let him work on his complete game. He was rushed and its showing now that he's older and looks lost and plays like he needs to change his tampon. He needs to be moved period, hemsky isnt the answer to me, i would pick Winnipeg as a trade partner, i've always liked Byfuglien as a dman that has a giant shot and can clear the crease, and i like wheeler who has size and a scoring touch if paired correctly. Buffalo, Florida, Winnipeg,Dallas, Calgary and Edmonton are all higher then average trade partners.
Those are all good trading partners, teams that will be out of it by December. Florida is a very good match with guys like Upshall, Fleishmann and Goc. I only mentioned Hemsky since he's a UFA and could probably be had for DZ straight up. I know he's had injury issues but that's not a certainty for one year. Byfuglien would cost a bit more, probably DZ and a top 5 prospect and 2nd rounder.
