Starting my first thread, hope you enjoy this great article from the NY Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/03/o...are&adxnnlx=1383584516-W57qUMpP3l0A/tym RrMlA
tl;dr however, I did watch this instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S37LjI68fLw
That is interesting. I had long ago noticed that both Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan were nice middle class boys from two-parent households, but had kind of assumed them to be the minority. Now I have even more respect for the Isiah Thomases and Allen Iversons.
TLDR: Kids raised with poor nutrition don't grow as tall. Poor people don't tend to squander so much money on getting their kids into athletics. People raised in ghettos often don't learn team/life skills needed to succeed at the NBA level. Bottom line: it's hard out there for poor people, and making it in the NBA is even harder that it is for middle class and rich people. But it's mostly about personal responsibility.
Don't tell anybody I said this, but the rookie posted a very interesting article. Quality read right there.
