http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2605639Well, I wanted Denver to pick him up. So much for that.
No way. Houston adds another wing player, You cant be serious so Bonzi goes to a team just to play off the bench! wrong choice!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Something-To-Say @ Sep 28 2006, 01:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>lol yeah he should've gone to the Lakers. Because like any laker fan will tell you, every single player in the NBA wants to play for the lakers.</div> :HAHAHA: I never said anything about the Lakers. I mean Denver should have gotten him for their starting SG. But the rockets right now need a young big man who can contribute and play the 4. and they get another talented wing. Maybe its for a future trade
I see some wing from Houston getting traded, and it wouldn't suprise me if it did turn out to be Bonzi, but with Bonzi, the Rockets have a very good player to come off of the bench for them. This has been a very active offseason for them, and they have made some interesting moves. It will be fun to see how they put it all together this season.
Well, I like that Houstin is a stronger team now (I hope T-Mac can get out of the 1st round), but it's weird that he went to a team to come off the bench. He could have made $2.2M more per year with Sacramento, and he would have started, and they are a good team as well. I don't know why he decided to take a paycut, AND come off the bench. I don't know, maybe he's sold on Houston and he thinks they can go somewhere (if they stay healthy, they could).EDIT: Hmmm.. interesting to read at the bottom that Boston made an offer. I wonder what was talked about as a S&T? Ainge is quietly getting very active.

This definitely makers Houston very dangerous. They can afford to let McGrady rest a little more now. Hell, we all know McGrady will miss stretches of games with his back problems but with Wells they have a guy that can put up 20ppg...he and Battier form a very nice defensive backcourt. If only Houston had some more firepower inside...but this team could be something else.

That gives you someone who can score off the bench. What do you think ???
Wow, I knew they were in talks with each other, but I thought the only way they'd sign him is in a sign and trade. Great move by the Rockets, make them much tougher, gives them more youth/altheticism, and eliminates 1 more question mark in the backcourt. If T-Mac/Yao stay healthy, this team will be VERY dangerous.PS- Any news on Bob Sura coming back? Last I heard was he was going to join a few summer leagues and rehab was on schedule, but haven't heard anything since...
all I have to say is wells off the bench for portland was AMAZING especially in that Great Lakers Blazers series in the conference finals a while back. but he's a better player now... a better person idk. But whether he starts or is on the bench this is a good pick up
Hm, This is a very nice pick up for houston let's just see how good the pick up is IF T-Mac gets hurt again and someone has to step up.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He's not coming off the bench. Potential lineupPG- Alston or SpanoulisSG- WellsSF- McGradyPF- BattierC- Yao</div> That's what I'm expecting as well as I pointed out in the Rockets thread. Wells plays like a pf in his rebounding skills and post up work. It works out fine as Wells and Ming can work downlow leaving the perimeter players Rafer, Tmac and Battier to do their thing. Also, doesn't hurt that Battier, Wells and McGrady can d up on some of the power forwards in the West. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I see some wing from Houston getting traded, and it wouldn't suprise me if it did turn out to be Bonzi</div> Considering he just signed a contract, he's not liable to be traded anytime soon. Don't see them trading Battier(when they gave up a draft pick just to get him) nor McGrady. I expect some cuts to be made to some of their lesser backups such as Azuibike and Jacobsen.
It works great for the Rockets on the offensive end but Wells definitely can't guard power forwards that are 6 inches bigger than he is. They can't match up with the spurs with that lineup. Also they still don't have a real point guard to run that offense but it is definitely an improvement over last year.
Rafer played great last season, especially with both T-Mac and Yao on the floor (despite T-Mac playing horribly in February-early March). He can run the offense, hit some jumpshots, and is a pretty good fit. A healthy Sura is a better fit, but I don't think he will be starting anytime soon.
Rafer is definitely not starters material imo on a championship team. Houston will need to upgrade or Sura gets to the level he was 2 years ago which I doubt.

That might just work, now that you mention it. Then have Head/Sura, Howard, Snyder, some Jacobsen, some Novak/Lucas, and Mt. Mutombo off the bench. That's very solid, and if this team can just stay healthy they are going to be an incredibly dangerous team this year. Having Wells, T-Mac, Battier, and Yao on the floor at the same time would make them a pretty good defensive team and also very quick. And adding to a quick lineup you add in Alston, that can get scary for opposing teams. I can't wait to see how this team performs this year.
Battier is no 4. No way no how. The Rockets have 1 big man on their team: Yao. They're worse than the Suns in that regard. Unless they trade for another big man to play the 4, they're dumped.
