SIMs should be free. My iPad let me choose a telecom, regardless of the SIM it came with. I walked into an Apple store and asked for 2 SIMs and they just handed them to me, no cost. I just re-upped with Verizon. T-Mobile has LTE here and unlimited data for $70. It was tempting.
I have the Nexus 7. Great bang for the buck. Super high-quality video (some of the best I've seen on a tablet), good sound (though I will use some speakers at times). After having it for a few months, I can understand why it was so hyped upon release (and tough to find in stores).
I bought it last week and it still didn't ship until today. I think stock levels are still an issue. On the flip side, I bought a Nexus 5 late on the 31st. I was initially told it'd ship in 3-4 weeks. It ended up coming yesterday!
You'll love the Nexus 7, I promise. If you don't, I'll pay you back everything you paid me for my unsolicited, unqualified opinion.
Okay, now I've narrowed it down to a handful of tablets, mostly Nexus and Galaxy in varying sizes and configurations. Where's the best place to buy? Any places I should avoid? I want to buy the tablet, cover, and screen protector together, and if I decide to get a data plan I'll probably stick with Sprint. I can get a 16GB Galaxy Tab 3 for fifty bucks if I sign up for a 2-year plan...
