    James Franklin ready to return

Missouri quarterback James Franklin looked good in pregame drills on Saturday and could be back from a shoulder injury this week. Coaches used that to prod backup Maty Mauk against Tennessee.

The redshirt freshman made his third start in place of Franklin, and it was his best by far. Coach Gary Pinkel said Mauk was told he was on a short leash.

Kenny Miles shot, in stable condition

Authorities say former South Carolina running back Kenny Miles was shot in the arm during a robbery in the parking lot of a business park in suburban Columbia.

    Agent: Nick Saban under 'pressure'

The agent for coach Nick Saban told Texas officials in January that Texas was the only school he would consider leaving Alabama for, and his success with the Crimson Tide had put him under "special pressure," The Associated Press has learned.

The agent, Jimmy Sexton, made the comments during a 45-minute call with former Texas Regent Tom Hicks and current Regent Wallace Hall. Hicks detailed the call in a Sept. 24 email that was obtained Tuesday by the AP through an open-records request.

"Sexton confirmed that UT is the only job Nick would possibly consider leaving Alabama for, and that his success there created special pressure for him," Hicks wrote.

Saban, for his part, said he was "too damn old" to leave Alabama and start over.

Tyler Moore out for rest of season

Florida starting offensive tackle Tyler Moore is out for the season after suffering a compound fracture in his right elbow after a scooter accident.

Coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday that Moore, a third-year sophomore who transferred from Nebraska, crashed while driving home from practice Tuesday night and had surgery to repair the injury. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined.

Loss to Tide 'haunts' Jeremy Hill

Despite being one of only two running backs to gain 100 yards against Alabama last season, LSU's Jeremy Hill is constantly reminded of the yards he failed to get.

"It haunts me all the time," Hill said of last year's 21-17 loss to the Crimson Tide.

The Tigers had a chance to run out the clock and put the game away, but a 3-yard loss from the Alabama 29 with about 2:30 left still troubles Hill.

"If I had just gotten maybe 4 or 5 [yards], it might have changed the complexion of the game," said Hill, who rushed for 107 yards in the game. "I was trying to do way too much.

"You can't do those kinds of things on Alabama. They're way too well-coached, way too assignment sound. So it's just getting what's there. If it's 3 yards on a play, take that 3."

Instead, the Tigers missed a 45-yard field goal attempt with 1:34 remaining, and Alabama scored in the final minute to get the win.

Dorial Green-Beckham catches 4 TDs as Mizzou rolls

Maty Mauk wanted simply to keep the offense rolling for No. 8 Missouri before turning the job back to James Franklin. Dorial Green-Beckham was merely trying to help the Tigers' backup quarterback succeed.

Their goals helped both make program history Saturday.

Mauk threw five touchdown passes to tie Chase Daniel's school record, Green-Beckham set another mark by catching four of them and Missouri cruised past Kentucky 48-17.

Nick Marshall's 214 yards help No. 9 Auburn scoot by Vols

Auburn doesn't have to worry about passing to remain in the running for a Southeastern Conference title.

Nick Marshall rushed for 214 of Auburn's 444 yards Saturday as the No. 9 Tigers needed just nine pass attempts to roll to a 55-23 victory over Tennessee. Auburn also scored on a kickoff return and a punt return -- the first time the Tigers have ever done both in the same game -- and set an NCAA single-game record by averaging 44.85 yards on seven combined kickoff and punt returns.

Nick Saban: Can't take it for granted

The win over LSU on Saturday was sweet, but Alabama coach Nick Saban doesn't want his top-ranked Crimson Tide to fall asleep at the wheel.

After all, he has seen it happen once and he won't have it happen again.

    Gators lose LB Antonio Morrison

Florida sophomore linebacker Antonio Morrison will miss the rest of the season with torn cartilage in his knee, coach Will Muschamp said Monday.

Muschamp said it was the same injury -- a radial tear of the meniscus in Morrison's right knee -- as running back Matt Jones, who required surgery.

Sheriff: Kenny Miles filed false report

Authorities say former South Carolina running back Kenny Miles shot himself in the arm last week in a parking lot, lied to officers and now will be charged with filing a false police report.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that he will not speculate why Miles shot himself in the upper arm Nov. 4 and then lied to officers, saying he was robbed. Lott added there was no evidence anyone else was in the parking lot at the time or that other criminal activity was going on.

Miles issued a statement through his lawyer saying he made a mistake and that he was not involved in anything criminal. The statement does not say why Miles was handling the gun when he was wounded.

Show of support for Will Muschamp

Embattled Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp must be feeling better about his job security after receiving votes of confidence from university president Bernie Machen, athletic director Jeremy Foley and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier on Wednesday.

"As athletic director, I'm a thousand percent convinced that Will Muschamp is the guy to lead this football program," Foley said in a statement posted on the school's athletics website. "Nothing has changed in what we feel about Will Muschamp from the day we hired him. Everyone around here wants the same thing. We want to do what is right for the University of Florida.

    Second Heisman for Johnny Manziel?

While Johnny Manziel might be saying all the right things and not focusing on winning a second Heisman Trophy, his Texas A&M teammates have certainly played the part of yell leaders.

"You know how society is, they get bored with people," receiver Malcome Kennedy said. "You know, you win one and it's like: 'OK you don't want to be greedy.' But when it comes down to it, the numbers say it all. He knows it, we know it and people who watch sports know it."

Mike Tobey, No. 25 Virginia pull away from Davidson

Alabama looked lethargic, uninspired, sloppy and downright ordinary against a middling Southeastern Conference team on Saturday.

And the top-ranked Crimson Tide still found a way to win by nearly two touchdowns.

T.J. Yeldon rushed for 160 yards and AJ McCarron threw two touchdown passes as Alabama overcame four turnovers to beat Mississippi State 20-7 on Saturday night.

Desperation 73-yard TD pass lifts Auburn over Georgia in last minute

With Auburn's title hopes hanging in the balance, the ball deflected into the air and into Ricardo Louis' hands.

The result was a stunningly improbable touchdown that rescued the seventh-ranked Tigers' equally unlikely championship chances.

Louis scored on a deflected 73-yard pass from Nick Marshall on fourth and 18 with 25 seconds left to give Auburn a 43-38 victory over No. 25 Georgia on Saturday night.
