The question I have is: would you be willing to go through that for a 6 figure settlement?

I would be surprised if it's not a seven-figure settlement.

This is going to be at least $750,000 I would think. It shocks the conscience. Maybe there is some defense, but you have multiple defendants. This looks like a great case for the Plaintiff.

He's being sarcastic about how cops do terrible things like this, but then a cop gets shot somewhere else and it's "support these heroes".

Complete violation of civil rights. I've seen people awarded far more than $750K for far less. As you pointed out, there are a lot of defendants. I would think seven-figures is a slam dunk.

Not only should the cop be fired, but he should be charged with assault.

So was I. Basically cut and pasted one of his responses to one of my posts. :)

For the record: I love jlprk

But in all professions, a few bad apples ruins it for the bunch. What about military people who rape and kill innocent people during war, do they represent all military people?

Well, the military is a group of people trained to kill..... and in times of war, I think it's to be expected that some of them will do horrible and unspeakable things. Soldiers have been doing horrible and unspeakable things for thousands of years.

Cops are supposed to be the protectors of society. "To protect and serve," right? Lately the only thing the police have been protecting is the interests of government, and the only thing they're serving is revenue to their department. The days of "officer friendly" are dead and gone.

Yes, at least from what I know, I'd go through all that for seven-figures. Sucks beyond words how badly this was handled and how he was mistreated, but beyond his civil rights violations, it doesn't sound like he was otherwise physically harmed (again, at least from what I know and have read). All those dollars bills would be enough to dry my tears caused by the trauma and injustice of all of this.

Shame on the DA for asking for a search warrant based on the police saying the suspect was clinching his butt.

Shame on the judge for granting such a search warrant.

Props to the first doctor and hospital that refused to exam the guy.

Shame on the 2nd hospital for putting this guy through that.

As far it's not that bad because the guy is going to get paid if it were me I would have been frightened that they would have eventually planted drugs on me or in my shit. That was a whole lot of effort to come up with nothing.

And in a small town if you sue the cops and win you better plan on moving far away because the next time they will find drugs.

Right after I filed my lawsuit. The best defense for the cops is to catch you ridin' dirty before the trial.

Yup... either that or I would stay inside until the trial was over.

Why hasn't anyone had the balls to say what's really happening here? Aliens are posing as New Mexico cops and butt-diddling rednecks!

I agree the system is at fault here. Police do not have unregulated discretion and there is suppose to be a checks and balances system in place for situations like this. The system failed and it is cases like this that can change the system.

However you want to justify what military personnel, but I find those kinds of action and the people who commit them to be sick and evil and have no sympathy for them.

Having said that, I will stand up every time at the RG when they show military personnel attending the game or take my hat of to those that serve our country. I can distinguish between bad people being in the military or being on a police force and people that work hard serving the community or country.
