If I were a rival GM who needed bodies, I'd give up a late 1st for ALL 3. I probably wouldn't give up a mid-1st, and certainly not a lotto pick - even in a bad draft. (and the next is likely to be one of the best).

Well I was saying all three would need to be used. But you guys are probably right.

All it takes is a team thinking they are going to contend to give up #whatever like Washington did a few years ago with #5 (rubio pick) for mike miller

As an aside, my phone auto corrects rubio to dubious

And yes, a team would have to be "batshit insane" to trade cj, free, and nardz for a generational talent like Gary Harris...

This draft is certainly better at the top. (Although most of the young guys will need a few years to be stars) And it should be deep throughout the entire lottery.

But adding a late first round pick is like any other year. We have those types of players. And f we don't we can always find them.

Basically if we can't get top 10-15 pick.......then it is not worth trading for. Still would like to have our pick, but it's only the top 5 or so that are sure bets.

I'll tell you what. So far this season, it's nice not looking at the lotto for the next game changer for once. I understand that this is a "game changing" draft; but the realism here is the game changers still couldn't be had (we would be a 8-10 lotto pick). Aren't you guys happy that we are in contention of the playoffs? Aren't you tired of watching other teams play in May?

I don't follow college, but this has the top 10. Looks like Darlo Saric maybe a decent PF.

We are 7 games into an 82 game season. We aren't in contention for anything.

When you look at the standings and we are third, we are a playoff team. Until we start dropping, that's the label. If you must be pessimistic and "down play" the record, then be my guest. As for me, I will look at it as a positive.

Mags is a master troll, it's really hard to tell when he's actually trolling or not.

Nobody is a playoff team right now. It's all just noise at this point.

I don't think he's trolling at all. I think Mags is a super homer, and proud of it. Kingspeed, on the other hand, is someone that I can't always tell if he's trolling or not.

I disagree. Game one is just as important as game 82. You add up the wins and losses, then decide who has the better record. For a team with a winning record, their chances of making the playoffs is better.

But if we go by your logic, Miami is a lotto team. Maybe they should trade LBJ for draft picks?

    Agreed. Repped.

All the standings are in the first month is media talk. Once it actually gets close to playoff berth time, then it's time to -actually- talk about them.

That's not how hes thinking of it logically, just so you know. It's deeper than that.

So lets say team "A" misses the playoffs by 1.5 games. What if that team started the season 6-12. You don't think they would look at the beginning part of the season and say "Man if we only had a better start of the season!"

I think fans that don't take the beginning of the season into consideration as important is fucking silly. A good start builds confidence. Maybe that confidence lights a fire and your team plays better. That, in turn, makes you play even better and build more confidence.

I personally think every game is as important as the next.

I just think it's silly to say a team that has played 6 games is a playoff team when they could literally not be after game 7. Do they suck all of a sudden? What happens after game 8 when they are back in the playoffs? Are they great all of a sudden?
