I think our team will be at Denver's record from last season for third in the conference

Remember when the strike shortened year started, and the Blazers were something like 7-2? A lot of people thought that the Blazers were for real, and one of the better teams in the conference.

We all know how that ended. Moral of the story? It's too early.

Remember in 1999 during the strike shorted season, the Blazers were 7-2 and everyone thought they would be a low seeded team? Yeah we know how that ended. Moral of the Story? Sometimes the good starts create confidence that is built throughout the season. So you can say it's early, but most good Novembers usually have great finishes.

Remember when the Blazers went on that 13 game winning 5 or 6 years ago and missed the playoffs?

    Too early.

Those teams are nothing like the team we have now. Sorry, but I don't buy your pessimism.

I think this is more likely. We don't have as many tricks up our sleeve. When the rest of the league figures out how to defend us, like Phoenix did last night, we're in for a rough season finish.

Saying that doesn't actually mean anything without expounding on the point.

According to some in here that means they are better than the Thunder and 3rd best team in the entire league.

So apparently 8 games in we can book our ticket to the Western Conference finals only to lose to the Spurs.

Great season, can't wait til next year

Who here thinks we're better than the Thunder, legitimately the 3rd best team in the league, and headed to the WCF?

Well let me expound it for you!

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2008_games.html

That team was finding its identity. They just lost their #1 pick to a terrible injury and had a front court of Pryzbilla and a Skinny Aldridge. Then Pryzbilla went down with a season ending injury midway through that streak you mentioned, forcing us to use Outlaw and Frye as our big rotation. Also, by the end of the season, teams knew that Roy was our scorer, so they just took the ball out of his hands and forced everyone else to beat them. We were one dimensional. Also, we were just a game out of the playoffs, having a 41-41 record. A couple more wins and we would have made it.

Our team now is built much better than that team. Instead of ISO offense, we have multiple plays to get the score. We have a legit center and hard hat role players. We have that volume scorer off the bench and more legit starting core. That team is extremely different than this team.

    Sorry, not swayed….

Please read the Draft class is going to be ridiculous thread.

Many said we are a playoff team even though we are only 6-7 games into the season because we were a playoff team at the time.

Using that same logic, those people have to feel the way I posted above.

Make up how you'd assume others would feel so that you can whine and bitch more about people in here. Whatever tickles your fancy, I suppose.

Joel played 77 games in the 2007-2008 season and a full 82 the following year. He blew out his knee in 2009-2010. So I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

Not at all. You're just extrapolating what was said in a different topic to this thread, so that you can mock people for it. Again, whatever gets you off buddy.

Oh and lets talk about the team that went 7-2 you pessimists are trying to use as an example.

Felton = fat lazy bastard and started the first half of the season at a dismal 28% from the field.
Matthews = Battling injuries all season
Wallace = Lost almost his entire "game changing" game. Was dismal from the perimeter and didn't have the lift to finish around the basket
Aldridge = He was the only player that played half way decent
Camby = Slow, was a shell of a player he once was just a year earlier.

    Bench
Crawful: Ball Hog specialist that was thought he could be our Roy in the 4th. Another mid 30's shooter at starting guard.
Batum: Was used only as a spot up shooter. Nate had no confidence in him.
Babbit: All I need to say is his name and people get it. There is a reason why he couldn't find a gig in the NBA
    Nolan Smith: See above.
Jonny Flynn: Is this guy playing in the NBA?
Thabeet: The most awkward player to ever step foot on the court
