I'd say VC and Chris Webber. VC does still have a lot of fans, but now has tons of haters too. From his injury on, he's gone downhill. CWebb was one of the big 3 in SAC town and they were WCF material, but that teams gone down, and since he got traded, he's had lots of haters.

Well, although he's starting to win a lot of fans back, still Kobe's on the list. 5 years ago he was the golden boy of the league, there's still a lot more people who hate him than there were in 2001.Rasheed Wallace was a high flyer back then and was very entertaining. His technicals also garnered a lot of attention.Darius Miles was extremely popular for a rookie. He was expected to do big things in his career. But 5 years later we're still waiting for him to become that player (even though he made strides last season).

I thought of VC when I read the topic title. cwebb is another good one. I think alot of it has to do with his team doing bad.

How about Jason Kidd, he was one of the most entertaining/popular players in the league. But since Steve Nash arrived in Phoenix he's lost a lot of fans.

Antoine Walker was very popular a few years ago, and was even voted to start in the All-Star game once. That changed and people began to dislike him. It's because the team wasn't winning and everyone blamed him.Desmond Mason is one of the best dunkers in the NBA, but people actually talked about him a few years ago because of it. I havn't heard his name talked about other than a trade rumor.Stephon Marbury used to be an All-Star player, flashy, and very entertaining. He had a lot of fans, but now people just diss him (he does deserve it half the time due to his comments).Steve Francis - same deal as Marbury. Francis just completely fell apart when he lost his lover.. Cuttino Mobely.

Paul Pierce used to be a lot more popular than he is now. He, Kobe, AI, and Tracy McGrady were really carrying the league marketing wise.

I think that pretty much everyone from that good Kings team has experienced their popularity decline. Webber, Stojackovic, Bibby, alot of them really are not talked about like they was back when the Kings were close to making the finals.

Well, Kobe is definitely on the top of the list.I agree that VC and CWebb used to be the poster children, but they both fell apart. I'm still a fan of VC's, though.Kevin Garnett is beginning to get hated. People blame him for Minnesota's unsuccessful seasons. Scottie Pippen even called KG "overrated" last season during a Lakers' half-time report that my brother recorded.Umm... Grant Hill? I don't know. He was superb a few seasons back, but when his injury struck, people knew he wasn't the same GHill that Slam Magazine crowned "BETTER THAN MJ" back in a 1997 issue.

I agree with everyone, but how about Steve Francis, too? He used to be an all star, being called the Franchise and showing tons of promise and potential....ever since the T-Mac trade he has seemed lost.

It sucks that his talents are going down the drain, I remember in 02 he was the starting PG for the Western Conference All-Star team ahead of Payton and Nash.

Another player who lost alot of popularity is Kevin Garnett. I dont see much from him since his team started to go down.

Is it just me or does anybody else feel like Desmond Mason's popularity and stock has gone down a little bit?

Another could be Baron Davis(I dunno if he's mentioned yet). That's mainly injury's fault too.

Most teams would rather see him with the ball than one of his teammate's (if the team is good like the Heat).

SHAME ON YOU ALL!!he's my favorite player, but nobody in the league has lost more fans and lost the most respect in the league office than Ron Artest. I love him, but there are so many more that can't stand him.

What about Latrell Sprewell guys? I loved that guy when he was playing for the Knicks, in '98/'99 he carried them as an eight seed to the Finals....But now? Well, he's at home. Things have changed after he made the infamous "feed" comment....

Hmmm, how about Gary Payton? In 2000 he was still at All Star level, and is now a decent role player off bench.
