They probably would sign a 32-35 year old vet type for a couple years if they trade MDZ and then lose Girardi.

Agreed, no biggie. I see no issue with that. If Girardi gets a big offer and leaves, we can find a very solid dman for that 4 or so mill we would have paid Girardi.

I see MDZ on PP when we score. Isn't that true? I wonder how many total PP goals we have and how many with DZ?

I agree with faceoffs. That has to be fixed.

My point was for rentals you give prospects or picks, not potentially great RFAs. I understand Yakupov for DZ even though I don't want Yakupov, but that make sense to me.

MDZ has been treated like crap by thousands of morons in the NYR fan base. I would be dying to get out of town if I was him where he can play and actually be appreciated by the fan base of his new team. Instead of having to put up with thousands of imbecile Rangers fans who blame him for everything, especially the forwards not scoring goals the past 5 years.

He hasn't taken the next step. If we were deep at forward I would be in favor of keeping him because there is a good chance he will take the next step and get better. He hasn't done it though and its risky paying a guy $4m a year as an RFA who really hasn't improved his shot or decision making offensively. I do like MDZ though but at some point you need to let another team try to develop him IF you can get really good value in return.

Dump, it is time you wake up on MDZ. The coach feels the same way many of us do in here. Did you see his pre-game comments? Simply put MDZ has not been good. That is all. I don't want to hear about other dmen being good or not, we are talking about MDZ not the other dmen here. He has not been good. We all know it. The coach knows it. It is what it is.

Let's hope being scratched tonight helps him the way being scratched helped MZA. All we can hope for if MDZ is still here.

As far as i know it's not like he's getting booed at the Garden, nor does he read Chuck's posts so MDZ wouldn't have reason to think he's not appreciated by the fans.

We missed your ridiculous non-sense 31. Yes I am the only one who has questioned MDZ. I guess all the other fans AND the head coach, who scratched him YESTERDAY and questioned him before the game tonight, don't count. As usual you are a disgraceful joke. Your obcession with me is actually funny...and sad...LOL.

I like MDZ, and except for his sophomore year, he's never really been bad, but I could see him go for something we need, like someone who can win faceoffs and score goals.

Man, you lack any sense of humor. And let's not forget you've told us in numerous occasions you've wanted him gone for 3+yrs now, long before anyone else had "turned on him"

Agree 100%. This is what it is all about. It is not about knocking MDZ, or hating MDZ, or thinking he will never be good...NOPE. It is about our team and what we need to improve. That is what it is all about with MDZ. That simple really.

No matter what idiot 31 has to say, that's the bottom line on MDZ. Not about ripping him or saying he is awful. Just about the team and what we need.

100% I have. And we should have moved him back then when we could have gotten more for him. We are where we are now, and quite frankly I am done with the ridiculous non-stop MDZ talk. The coach showed how he felt by scratching him, and calling him out pre-game. For the team dealing him for scoring makes sense.

At this point whatever will happen will happen. If he goes...fine. If he stays...so be it. I am tired of discussing it.

I thought the defense played pretty well tonight. Is it because MDZ was a healthy scratch? Who knows, but they played pretty well tonight.

I like MDZ but if Glen can move him for help on the face-offs and scoring I have no problem. Moulson and Ott would be a no brainer but their combined cap hit is $5.6, MDZ's is $2.5. I think the new management in Buffalo would want more than scraps, I'd add Brassard to the deal to even up the money. No way Girardi stays here for $4-$4.5 if you look at the contracts handed out last year to free agent dmen, Girardi will get at least $5.
