"I need to hang up my gloves and step away for a little while," says GSP. Hopefully he'll elaborate at the post fight presser.
Re: GSP... retires? Or something? He didn't judge the fight. If he doesn't come back, Hendricks never becomes the linear champion.
Re: GSP... retires? Or something? GSP didn't talk about what was ailing him at the presser but he said that he can't sleep and it sounds like he's starting to fold under the weight of being champion for so long.
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress Hey remember that time Anderson Silva took a year off and Dana White didn't make a squeak about it? What about Jon Jones turning down a fight for a third time this past week with absolutely no explanation why? Or Jones refusing a Gustafsson rematch? 99% of the time I love Dana but he was way out of line tonight.
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress Apparently I cracked 25,000 posts tonight ranting about this event. Kind of like eating you're 1000th Whopper. Not really something you want on a resume!
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress I'd vote you up if I weren't banned from that forum, good sir.
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress Dana White says that GSP will remain on schedule and rematch Hendricks in the next few months, possibly but not likely in Dallas at 171. He doesn't believe that GSP wants to retire and says that after the conversation they had the personal problems GSP is working through will sort themselves out without too much trouble.
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress TMZ are reporting that GSP's issues are his dad's failing health and an unwanted pregnancy.
Re: GSP says he needs to step away from the sport due to personal issues, stress I had a guess that GSP knocked somebody up and is now pretty concerned about that issue. I believe he's on record that once he was done fighting he wanted to start a family, well I guess it started before he was ready. Listen, if GSP is done, let him retire. He's done so much for the UFC that DFW calling him out and saying "his issues aren't that bad" is just complete chicken shit. Hopefully all is well with GSP's father. The man deserves as much time off as he wants.
Re: Georges St-Pierre says he needs to step away from the sport post Hendricks win I'm not going to link to TMZ but today GSP told a pap that a) he's not expecting, b) his dad's fine, and c) he is stepping away from the sport but will continue to train as he always does. Directly contradicts DFW's insistence that the rematch is in the works.
