Who cares about SOS. These are the types of games we LOST last season. Our schedule definitely gets tougher next month, but I m enjoying us handling the teams we are supposed to! #JustEnjoyItFAMS
Carlito/Mixum was saying that our "cupcake" schedule really means we're no better than a team with a losing record.
The schedule always evens itself out....You have to win the games you're suppose to and steal some your not.
Exactly! Momentum is made by win streaks, regardless of the teams you face. I think we'd be in a shit storm if we dropped a couple in this road trip. Sad that good shit like this gets downplayed....
I always wonder how they compute these things. Do they base the strength of our schedule on the W/L record of the teams we beat (presumably before we beat them)? But what if THEY'VE had a weak schedule, in which case a 5-0 team would be worse than a team that's lost three naibiters to top teams in their gyms and is now 2-3. So I guess I don't believe you CAN put an exact value on SoS. (Also: presumably our SoS right now could change if the teams we played get much worse or much better over the course of the season. That is, our win over Boston right now is probably inflated in value because they've played out of their minds, but when (inevitably, as seems to have begun to happen) they crash to earth, that win should count for much less if this was revisited later.)
Gotta sweep the bottom feeders and at least split with the contenders, so far so good. I love winning a high percentage of games before the allstar break, healthy now means stack up the W's. Older teams will be limping in April and hopefully CJ will bring spark come 2nd half of the season. 8-2!!!! Blazerssshokalaka!!!!!! This team needed an overtime win and the Raptors will win some games this season, just not against us!
I'm certainly not complaining about our record. I'm just saying I'm not using it to paint us as contenders. I think there have been some worrying signs - even though we've got a good record, we haven't got anything like an elite point differential. I would say right now we look not as good as: Warriors Rockets (they did beat us, after all) Clippers Minnesota (yes, I went there) San Antonio (even though we beat them - although they're not as good as teams with worse records right now) OKC (who will continue to get stronger as Westbrook gets back into shape) We're about on a par with Dallas. I think the Suns will start to flag soon. Memphis are kind of a mystery. The Nuggets and the Lakers too.
Phoenix is not such a bottom feeder this season..The Raptors have played well too, lost some close ones but destroyed Memphis. There's a changing of the guard all across the league in the standings.
I love the old inside jokes. Still waiting for this year's "DEAL COMING SOON!" Kingspeed? You gonna get that one going?
Our schedule isn't as "strong" because we BEAT the teams on our schedule. If we lost to them all, we'd have a much stronger schedule. It's a stupid stat.
I think the strength of schedule is considered by record of opponent before the game was played. So Blazers winning wouldn't matter.
Shouldn't the thread be named "8-2, Biotches!" or is that desecrating blazers.com? If we go .500 for the rest of the season we will finish with 44 wins.
Aside from the "on any given day" (as in on any given day any team can beat any other team - so good teams do occasionally lose to bad ones), simple fact, last year Portland LOST to bad teams. They lost close games and OT games. The start of being a good team is beating bad ones; and not all the teams Portland beat have been bad teams. Good teams beat bad teams (most days). Bad teams lose to bad teams. Difference between this year and last.
That's what Mary said... EDIT: I sure hope my Dad was right and He really does have a sense of humor...
