So I've mentioned this a few times in game threads, but the road Blazer broadcasts on LPBB are absolutely garbage quality. Choppy, lagging, freezing at times and definitely not the resolution and clarity I see with home Blazer broadcasts. Has anyone else been facing this so far?
Yes, I've experienced the same issue. I live near Fort Campbell, TN right now, and Charter doesn't carry NBA TV or NBA LP, so my only option aside from switching to satellite is to go with LPBB. While I'm glad they finally instituted the ability to choose which team's stream to watch, I've found so far that all of the Blazers broadcasts on away games have been terrible. The quality of the image, feed interruptions, choppy play, bland washed out images, etc. When I change to the home team's broadcast, the issues are usually resolved. I've watched games on the 360, PC, and android tablet, and have these same issues with the Blazers feed on away games. My guess is it's something to do with their feed from their broadcast crew.
Right, good to know I'm not the only one. With the corporate presence now on this board, can someone please explore this? HCP???
Mind you I have absolutely no idea how these things really work, but when I watch the Blazers feed on LPBB and encounter the ensuing issues, I always have this mental image of the Blazers' audio/video truck/crew getting to the arena late and getting put in some dark dungeon parking spot where they can't get good satellite reception and nothing works right. It's been pretty painful to watch, as the home team broadcasts for away games thus far offer a far superior quality stream, but their announcers are so boring. Like the Celtics announcers the other day, there were times I thought the audio feed was cut because they just wouldn't talk at all for long stretches of play.
I'm assuming LPBB is the NBA LeaguePass Broadband? I can promise you that our signal leaving the truck is a pristine 1080i. Once it leaves us, it's out of our hands. Not sure exactly where things are going wrong, but if more than 1 person is having this problem, it must be happening. As far as the TV crew, we are there exactly 7 hours before tipoff in state of the art HDTV mobile production studios. I will pass on your complaints or better yet have Denny. He seems to have the ear of the team right now.
If you have low priced DSL or cable, you may not be getting enough bandwidth to watch the best quality video feed. To stream full 1080p x264 compressed video requires between 4 and 10 mbit of bandwidth.
I have a 30 Mbit down / 10 Mbit up connection which is solid. I've also confirmed the issue on LTE on my tablet as well as internet at alternate locations. The other team's broadcasts work fine, across multiple devices, I can switch feeds during the game and the home team is fine, and the blazers is usually problematic, so generally speaking at least from what methods I have available, logic dictates that the problem lies somewhere on the side of LPBB that the Blazers stream goes to. Not saying it's the Blazers' crew, that was more of a joke mental image, but it definitely seems from my end to be an issue that's only effecting the Blazers broadcast when they are away from home. With that being said, the broadcast when they are home, I've never had issues with on LPBB. Perhaps the other teams are broadcasting a more compressed signal, or lower resolution than the Blazers broadcast. From my understanding, LPBB's "HD" stream is only 720i anyways, so perhaps if the Blazers stream is being lowered to this resolution in the process, that is causing the issues?
I don't see why the Blazers' streams would be treated differently from any other teams'. You'd think the stream from the truck would be as high resolution and least compressed as possible. Where LP is served, they'd compress the streams appropriate for the various bandwidth and quality levels. I have 50MBit and 1080p on Apple TV takes forever to begin streaming. Many minutes. Some people report the issue, others say they never see it. I've never seen Netflix at 1080p take minutes to begin streaming (buffering).
Well, in all fairness to the situation, LPBB has been notorious for having issues with stability and stream quality in recent years. This is actually the most problem free season I've used LPBB thus far, my only complaint being the occasional Blazers broadcast while away, although I am grateful for being able to choose the Blazers stream, whereas last season it seemed like they always chose the other teams broadcast by default. Last season nearly half the games I couldn't get a stream to load at all or it would stop working in the middle of a game or some other extremely frustrating issue.
Ya I have pretty fast broadband and don't have problems streaming anything else. Or any of the other broadcasts, or the home Blazers broadcasts.
Compared to other cities, is your reception better or worse from Miami, Detroit, and Milwaukee? http://sportstwo.com/threads/250791-Hey-HCP!?p=3154524&viewfull=1#post3154524
I don't think this is just a Board Band issue. I'm watching on NBA League Pass on DirecTV and the Blazers HD quality is good, but it cuts in and out, freezes, and then they show a shot of the rafters with Kidd's and Petrovic's jersey. Yet the Nets feed is perfect. This is the first time this has happened this season for me. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
