I'm sure they do. Slats has been guilty of this before though....inaction. When he makes trades they are generally great ones but we have all seen this team flounder with less then perfect rosters and see him do nothing for weeks/months. See deadline when we were #1 in the East and everyone knew we needed more scoring
I saw something about Ottawa today, maybe they take back Corvo and one of their top prospects like Puempel or Lazar.
I don't consider either one of those top prospects. I would want Zibanejad or forget it. I don't see Ottawa as a match at all.
This is the guy I want gone...Sather. There is no one else I "blame" more than Sather. We have 2 goals in the past 3 games. Once again we cannot score. We changed the coaches, so it is now clear the issue is the players. Sather is a total joke as a GM. And it is even more comical how a true NYR fan, a person who would really truly consider themselves a NYR fan, could ever defend this guy. His record here is a disgrace. That is the bottom line. I am not going off on some long drawn out rant about Sather, we have all seen it before, but the record here is terrible. And the fact that we scratch MDZ game after game, and do nothing with him is another joke. Trade him OR put the kid back in the lineup now. Enough of this BS. Sather has had plenty of time to deal MDZ or anyone else he chooses for that matter. Other deals seem to be made, but here our useless GM sits with that stupid cigar in his mouth, and yet again watches this team struggle to score. I am not angry at anyone else. It is what it is on the ice. We cannot score as usual, I am not going to get all fired up over it. But Sather is a joke. And he better wake his a** up and get some more O in here NOW because we sink deeper because we cannot score. And BTW...if you are Hank do you REALLY want to come back here to play behind a team that year after year cannot score, and when they give you 2 goals people say wow the Rangers are cooking on O tonight...LOL.
After watching yet another game where Hank gets outplayed by the other team's goalie and gives up yet another soft goal if not 2 I'm wondering if he's worth the $8+ mil a year he's going to want.
The guy let in two goals. The previous game he let in 1 goal. That is a 1.50 GAA and guess what...he is 0-2. Been happening for years. So spare me please. Now I am not saying he has been A + Hank this season, he has clearly had some ups and downs, but let's not act the the guy ever gets support from this team. 1.50 GAA the past two games. 0-2 record. Enough said.
And BTW...8 mill cap hit +/- is all give Hank. If he gets up to 9 or 10, I pass. I wouldn't go higher than 8 per, or 8.1 or so tops. That is all. This is a chance for Hank to put his money where his mouth is. He always says it's all about winning. Okay I believe you. Then take 8 mill and be happy. Don't drain the cap even more by wanting 9 or 10 mill per. Let's see if Hank's actions = his words.
Yes Chuck and Rask saw 43 shots last night and only gave up 1 he was screened on. Hank ranks 31st in GAA at this at this time year and I'm sure he was pissed about both goals but when you're up against a top team like Boston you can't get beat 5 hole shorthanded on a weak backhander. I think Hank's going to want a lot more than $8 mil or he would already be resigned.
If you think Hank is even close to being one of the bigger "issues" on this team, we will simply agree to disagree. Rask saw 43 shots and gave up 1 goal in one game last night. Hank gave up 2 goals in one game last night. That one game tells me all I need to know. My bad...LOL. And if Hank wants 9 mill +, I let him go. We agree there 100%.
Not sure I would let one of the best goalies in the game walk for $1-2mil. That's just stupid.the team needs more offense, they should trade a few guys to a team who stinks for a vet. Moulson or Cammalleri might fit. Only problem is they are free agents at seasons end.
Sather is probably too busy trying to make sure he completely rips off a GM to make any moves.....Meanwhile, Rome burns with shots off posts and pucks shot directly into goalie pads.....
Sather is probably doing damage control on MDZ because our dumbass fan base has been blaming the guy for the past 3 years for losing instead of the forwards who couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a snow shovel.
My comment about Hank relates more to next year and the 15 free agents Glen has to deal with, trades are an obvious way to alleviate the glut. It makes no sense to have MDZ a healthy scratch unless there are trade talks or he's nicked up, Falk has been physical but he adds nothing offensively. Nash has averaged a point per game as a Ranger, his return is huge and should move the Rangers up from 19th in scoring. I never said Hank was the problem this year Chuck nor was my post directed at you, just observing that he was outplayed in the game and gave up a soft goal which ended up being the difference against a top team in our conference. Your posts are confusing since you seem to agree that Hank's not playing well enough to merit $9-$10 mil, that was the point I was originally making.
Come on dump, you really think AV and Sather are just benching MDZ because of our fanbase? No shot dude. They are not happy with his play. Period end of story. That is pretty obvious from what AV has said.
I think no goalie is worth a 9 or 10 mill cap hit. To me the formula for building a winning team does not start with a goalie with that huge of a cap hit. So it isn't Hank is not playing well enough to merit that kind of deal IMO. It is no goalie is worth that type of cap hit IMO. I don't believe that is smart cap wise. I would top out around 8 mill +/- per for Hank. If Hank is truly all about winning as he says he is, no issues and he'll clearly sign for that and be the highest paid goalie in the NHL. If he only wants to break the bank and money is # 1, then he will want 9 or 10 mill per. I don't think it is smart to have a cap hit like that for a goalie. That's just my opinion though. Maybe I am wrong.
Darren Dreger said on TSN Radio that Glen Sather is making and taking calls on Michael Del Zotto. Dreger was asked if the relationship wasn’t that good between Del Zotto and Alain Vignealut and said, “correct. Alain Vigneault took a bit of a swipe, or at least was very honest in answering a question about why Michael Del Zotto isn’t playing consistently for the Rangers today. He said that Del Zotto isn’t playing consistently enough and that sort of boils it down. The problem that Del Zotto has in the Rangers lineup is that he is playing as a third pairing guy behind the likes of McDonagh and Marc Staal on the right side so Glen Sather has been making calls and he has been receiving calls on Del Zotto. The Ottawa Senators, as we reported last night on Insider Trading (below) are among the teams who have shown interest in Del Zotto but the Rangers need to get something back in return and because the fact that he was a high pick and there is still upside in him they are probably asking for a whole lot.” He added, after Dave Hodge mentioned that it should be an easy trade to make for a team looking for a forward to help them score goals, that “as of yesterday I was told that there were at least five or six teams who have called but we are in November and it’s still relatively early because even though there are a couple of teams in the NHL who are clearly not playoff contenders that’s it and any useful player is useful to the team he is playing on right now so it’s difficult to make trades. In Ottawa’s case it’s literally dollar in and dollar out which complicates things.
