Eisenhower came into office amid a successful coup-in-progress which stonewalled most of his power, but he had the stones to expose the plot to the country and the world. John and Bobby Kennedy fought the coup tooth and nail and were murdered for it. In my lifetime, those are the three greatest Presidents. I say three because only murder prevented Bobby from becoming President, and because as Attorney General he did more for America than most Presidents ever did. Every President since then has known the score and simply followed orders, making them nothing to be proud of and their "accomplishments" suspect at best.
This is ridiculous excuse making. Many people said that the government will screw up health care. The fact that they couldn't even get the website working correctly, securely and robustly is just proof. Google is attacked every day, by many groups around the world. They don't come crashing down because they know what they're doing. This government has no clue what they're doing.
Yes it is IMO. His signature plan is still being worked out. Depending on how ACA shakes down will have a significant impact on how he is ranked historically. Currently everyone is reacting to it very emotionally and basing their love or hate of it based on partisan propaganda and inconclusive premature results. In other areas, foreign policy he is doing ok. The economy is rebounding and the stock market is soaring again..... this could be argued as a falsely propped up economy, but at this point results are results.... Again he has three years to make this better or make this worse. He has been a fantastic president on social issues. Gay marriage, abortion and such, also religeous freedoms (not the crack pot religious right freedoms, but the religious freedoms of everyone else). Welfare is doing what it is suppose to besides what the entitled elite of the country will tell you. The NSA stuff is bullshit, but honestly I wouldn't expect anything different from any other president. The security/freedom is always a balance and the government will always try for extra security at the expense of freedom. People hate loosing their freedoms but if something bad happens all the complain about is "what was our government doing, why couldn't we stop this." Its our job to push back on government in this area. The ACA website is a total disaster. This part irks me more than anything as there was a ton of money spent on it and Obama and the dems knew that if this didn't go off without a hitch the crazies would actually get some traction. Personally though I wouldn't be surprised to find some sort of sabotage in this area and I believe once the program get off the ground it will do plenty of good. So, as I said before inconclusive, but theres my reasoning.
I think Russia is one of Syria's only allies, period. And Obama came out looking like a fool. Maybe Obama should give his Nobel to a more deserving person... Putin. Not only couldn't he get the Brits to join his coalition of the willing, he couldn't convince the Russians to do anything.
The Best Presidents in my life time have been Reagan and Truman. I might also note that the Democrats of Truman's day were closer to Republicans of today.or another way to say it, Democrats have not always been liberal Progressives at least not all of them. The worst in my life time had been Carter and Johnson where Nixon has a slim margin as the least objectionable. Obama is in close contention for the worst of all time. With Lincoln still holding the position of last. I have character typed Lincoln and Obama as INFP character type. (Others have also listed Lincoln as an INFP) The only Presidents of this type which is a highly unusual type for a Chief Executive in any organization. Idealistic Quester, characterizes this type and it shows through out Lincolns writings In righting wrongs, Lincoln leads the Nation into Civil war instead of away from war. Ignoring the Constitution in multiple ways in his quest. Obama has been on a quest to right many wrongs as he perceives them, sense he took office and he pursues this quests without regard to the Constitution. Obama has divided the nation as no other since Lincoln. My God! He has three years to go.
haha. nope. The Republicans were essentially right, this law was not ready in any way, shape or form. It was at LEAST a year away.
His policies on social issues cost the taxpayers little or no money. Those may actually separate him from Carter as far as worst goes. He really spent all his time running for the next higher office, and sadly did not learn how legislation works. I don't think he spent the time to read any Bill, let alone ACA. The unilateral changes in the law being done by the Executive are extraconstitutional at best. He may not have even known there was a WWW site being developed, and he certainly and admittedly has no understanding of its feasibility let alone status. Golf is good, though. Keeps him from inflicting even more damage on the republic.
Obama is the worst and most dangerous president we have ever had. I won't even go into all the reasons already cited here, which are all good in their own right. He has also shown a disregard and ignorance of the Constitution that is unprecedented. To cite just two examples, he suspended part of the ACA for one year for businesses, and he is now "allowing" people to keep their old health plans for one year even though they don't satisfy the requirements of the ACA. Neither of these actions are constitutional. The Constitution gives the president the power to enforce the law, but not to change it. Only Congress can change a law. If Obama wants certain provisions of the ACA changed, he has to ask Congress to do that. He can't just willy-nilly do it himself. Obama also perpetuated one of the most blatant and destructive lies ever foisted on the American people when he promised (30 times) that people could keep their health plans if they wanted to. So far, around 5 million have lost their plans, and that number is going to swell dramatically. Could be over 100,000 million very soon. He also promised that the average American family would see a $2,500 decrease in their health insurance premiums, but we know that premiums are going up dramatically--not down. Both of these statements were made in order to promote his legislative agenda and --more importantly -- to win an election. This is massive fraud, and Obama would be prosecuted and put in jail for it if he were a CEO in the private sector. He's also quietly purging the military of some of its best and brightest generals: he's fired 9 so far, which is an unprecedented. The media has completely overlooked this little fiasco. Benghazi is an utter disgrace, and he is responsible for it. He is the only president I know of who consistently denies knowing anything about what is happening on his watch, while being responsible for all of it. The persecution of conservative groups by the IRS is a massive abuse of federal power, as is the wholesale spying on Americans by the CIA and other branches of the federal government, not to mention our wiretapping of friends and allies around the world. All of this is going on right now, and continues to happen on this president's watch. This is what happens when you elect a marxist community organizer with big dreams who never even ran a lemonade stand in his life. Obama is a radical ideologue who is good at making fancy speeches but horrible at running a country or respecting the essence of this country's principles and traditions.
I don't get to answer here, but this seems highly illogical and seemingly a copout hidden behind a bash against "partisans". Lincoln gets ranked, and Obama's been President longer than Lincoln was. So does Kennedy. And Carter. And 21 other Presidents. If Obama resigned tomorrow, he'd be ranked. It's not an incomplete to assess where he's at today, in a poster's opinion.
Lincoln and Kennedy are both dead, their presidencies are over. Obama's not and there is some pretty big stuff up ahead that could move the needle one way or another. Read the whole thread though, I explained my thinking in more details.
