Re: Bellator 109: Shlemenko vs. Marshall (tonight)

If you haven't seen Alexander Shlemenko fight before you should tune-in for the main event. "Storm" is 48-7 and though you might argue his competition has been weak (and he's got a bit of a Bisping thing going in that he loses when he faces a ranked opponent) he is pretty exciting nonetheless. Although he's only 29 years old he's been fighting pro since 2004.

Former lightweight Rick Hawn scored an impressive knockout win over durable veteran Ron Keslar in the co-main event to win the Season 9 Welterweight Tournament and another $100,000 cheque. The Tristar Montreal fighter is the Season 6 Lightweight Tournament winner and Season 4 Welterweight Tournament runner-up. Hawn earns the right to face Doug Lima for the vacant Bellator Welterweight Championship at an upcoming event in 2014.

In the main event Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander Shlemenko retained his title with a TKO win over Doug Marshall. Shlemenko finished Marshall in the first round with body punches. Marshall may have suffered a broken rib in the fight. Shlemenko will face Season 9 Middleweight Tournament winner Brennan Ward next.
