DB Stephen Roberts flips to Auburn

Alabama still has the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, but on Wednesday the Crimson Tide lost their second ESPN 300 commit in the past three days.

Defensive back Stephen Roberts (Opelika, Ala./Opelika) flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn after four-star offensive guard Viane Talamaivao (Corona, Calif./Centennial) switched his pledge from the Tide to USC on Monday.

According to Opelika coach Brian Blackmon, Roberts' comfort level with Auburn was a main factor in his decision to make a switch.

    Mark Richt discusses wild finish

Mark Richt acknowledges that Georgia's coaches didn't specifically instruct their players to knock the ball down prior to Auburn's fourth-and-18 pass that resulted in the game-winning 73-yard touchdown.

That doesn't absolve safeties Tray Matthews and Josh Harvey-Clemons, however, for doing the one thing that allowed Auburn receiver Ricardo Louis to catch the deflected pass following their collision and stroll into the end zone to give the Tigers a 43-38 advantage with 25 seconds to play.

"Obviously at the end of the game, you've got to know to knock the ball down in that situation," Richt said at his Tuesday news conference. "We had a timeout prior to that. I'm in there. [Defensive coordinator Todd] Grantham's in there. We're all in there. I could have easily said, 'Hey guys, if the ball's launched deep, bat it down.' I could have said that. That's a good reminder for a young bunch of guys back there."

Aggies, Sun Devils to play '15 Kickoff

Texas A&M and Arizona State will meet for the first time in the schools' histories on Sept. 5, 2015, when they travel to Reliant Stadium for a nonconference game in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff.

It will be the third edition of the Texas Kickoff, with Oklahoma State beating Mississippi State 21-3 earlier this season and LSU and Wisconsin scheduled to meet Aug. 30, 2014, at Reliant.

Landing the Aggies and Sun Devils for the third version of the game is part of an ongoing effort to establish Reliant Stadium and the city of Houston as a major player in college football.

    Three Kentucky players suspended

Kentucky has suspended sophomore defensive back Cody Quinn and freshman defensive end Jason Hatcher for Saturday night's game at Georgia. Junior wide receiver Demarco Robinson is suspended indefinitely.

All were disciplined for violating team rules, but Wildcats football spokesman Tony Neely Thursday did not specify what rules were broken.

Kentucky (2-8, 0-6), trying to end a 14-game Southeastern Conference losing streak, faces a Georgia (6-4, 4-3) squad that has lost three of five.

Alabama stays perfect, shuts out Chattanooga

It wasn't the biggest pass of AJ McCarron's career, but it might have been the most personal.

McCarron threw for two touchdowns and became No. 1 Alabama's winningest quarterback in Saturday's 49-0 victory over Chattanooga. His most memorable toss went for 3 measly yards.

No. 8 Mizzou stuffs No. 24 Ole Miss to improve to 10-1

The Missouri Tigers might not have a roster full of superstars.

But as a collective they're an awfully tough bunch to beat, and the Tigers are now one victory away from playing for a Southeastern Conference championship in just their second season in the league.

Henry Josey rushed for two touchdowns, Marcus Murphy added another and No. 8 Missouri rolled to a 24-10 victory over No. 24 Mississippi on Saturday night.

No. 22 LSU shuts down Johnny Manziel, No. 12 Texas A&M

Les Miles loves calling Death Valley the place opponents' dreams go to die. The same might someday be said about Johnny Manziel's bid for a second Heisman Trophy.

Terrence Magee piled up a career-high 149 yards rushing, LSU's defense pulled the plug on Johnny Football and Texas A&M's video-game offense, and No. 22 LSU energized Tiger Stadium with a commanding 34-10 victory over the 12th-ranked Aggies on Saturday.

    Will Muschamp confident in himself

In the wake of a stunning loss to Georgia Southern, and with a public outcry that has gotten louder with every defeat, Florida's Will Muschamp met the media on Monday in a relaxed, jovial mood looking nothing like a coach who is worried about his job.

When asked if he is concerned about being fired, Muschamp confidently replied, "Absolutely not." When asked if he believes he will coach the Gators in 2014, he replied, "Absolutely."

    Raymond Sanders under suspension

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has suspended leading rusher Raymond Sanders for Saturday's game against Tennessee for violating a team rule.

Sanders, who has a team-best 464 yards on 107 carries with three touchdowns, sat out most of the first half of last week's 59-17 loss at Georgia in what the coach said afterward was for disciplinary reasons. Stoops said he received more information Monday morning, leading to the latest punishment, though he didn't say what rules the running back broke.

Sanders' participation in Saturday's senior day activities will be determined Tuesday.

    Chris Boyd entering NFL draft

Former Vanderbilt wide receiver Chris Boyd has decided to enter the NFL draft.

Boyd's agent, Chris Turnage, confirmed Tuesday that Boyd is planning to turn pro instead of transferring to another school. Boyd's decision was first reported by nfl.com.

Boyd was dismissed from Vanderbilt's team in September as part of an investigation that resulted in four of his teammates being arrested on charges of aggravated rape, though he remains enrolled at the school. Boyd entered a conditional guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge for his role in attempting to cover up the crimes.
