So, my sister got free tickets from someone to a Winterhawks game, and couldn't find anyone to go to the game with her.

So she called me and asked if I wanted to go, and she said it would cost me 20 something bucks. Not a lot, but I declined because I was busy.

So she calls our dad, and tells him she can have the ticket, and wouldn't charge him anything since "I got them for free". She didn't tell me she got them for free.

My sister does that all the time, gets things for free and tries to sell it for maximum profit. I understand that, but it's crazy how often she does it and then acts like she's taken a loss if she doesn't sell it for what she initially wants for it.

Ex: She got a guitar once, for free, that she tried to sell for 150 bucks. She ended up selling it for 100 bucks and was PISSED that she "took a loss" of 50 bucks.

I saw an article saying that men who grew up with a sister are much more likely to support traditional gender roles and be politically conservative, and having a daughter has the opposite effect.

Interesting, although I suspect you're making a joke.

oh? Hm...weird. I grew up with sisters (and have no daughters) and I'm actually very open to the traditional gender roles being switched.

Even as a high school kid, I was open to the idea of being a stay at home dad (or working out of the home). Many of the women I knew back then didn't seem to be too impressed with that though. Hehe, same is true of today too!

It interested me because I have three brothers and no sisters, but most of my friends who do are indeed more conservative and support gender roles more than I do.

I've also always loved the idea of being a stay at home dad, I don't advertise it though haha.

I've learned not to (I guess this will be the topic instead of my original one, which is fine).

It's weird, but the women I've known and dated/relationships with, have all said they wanted a guy who took a more active role in being a father/husband, and wouldn't mind a guy who stayed home and was a 'stay at home dad' (esp if he was handy, and could fix things, and maybe did something out of the home, etc...and most importantly, wasn't a fuck head)...

well, they didn't mind that until I told them I was perfectly ok with her being the "bread winner" and me raising kids/working out of the home. All sudden I became a loser.

So like I said, I've learned to not mention it anymore.

Back in the day when one had to personally show up at the welfare office and sign for their free money one of my sisters was a devout 'welfare mama'. So she gets to the wiondow only to be told this would be her last check as she was now employed. She stated she wasn't and was going to sue (her standard answer to any question). She was informed they had hired her and she started the next day or her welfare would be cut off. She ran to her attorney, only to be told she had to take the job. So she took the job, kicking and screaming all the way. Fast forward a few months and all she did was bitch about people sucking off the system.... She then got smart, got free state computer training, and now (30 years later) is a manager in the state IT dept. Granted she has filed numerous worker comp claims (always with an attorney) but she can be a real hoot.

I have a relative who routinely calls my mum looking for money to buy groceries or pay the hydro(electric) bill. He doesn't know my mum knows his eBay account name and she sees him spending hundreds of dollars a month on junk (and it's probably only a fraction of the things he buys online).

My sister has been living in LA for almost 10 years, essentially off my parents dime. I can't even count how many times my mom has said that she, "gave her 30 days to find a real job." She does spray tans part time and she manages an apartment building for free rent, but somehow she has all this disposable income to go to Coachella and Disneyland and a million other expensive places. Drives me nuts.

She has been trying to "act" for years, but never gone on any real auditions or casting calls.

    She'll be 30 in August.

I thought you were black? What the hell, black people are going to hockey games now? Is nothing sacred? :)

Seriously, my wife's relatives are incredibly cheap. It drives me crazy. I was brought up that if you have it, give it.
