I was wondering about our first black President. In the recent past we have had the "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" sayings of Justice Thomas that fell on deaf ears. We have the Jesse Jacksons promoting and promulgating racism, progressives providing as much free money to keep blacks from acheiving for the sake of political power and now this. It seems to me that by the mere fact a black has been elected to the highest office in the land a lot of steam has gone out of the pity party. Obama serves as the poster child for (as Thomas should have) the fact that color is meaningless now. The majority of all the peoples of this country (well, those who actually voted) supported a black man over a white one- twice. No more excuses ever again. Blacks can now acheive anything in life they choose to. It is a proven fact. No more barriers. I think Obama being elected as done more for disarming racial bias than anything before.
The President is in the best position to improve racial relations in the country than any president before him. It should be his legacy, not the ACA that has become one of the biggest clusterflocks of all time. Instead, he has made things worse. So sad, because this was his best chance to shine like nobody before him. Go Blazers
The black community has suffered greatly the past 5 years. Poverty, crime, and unemployment are higher than is acceptable. His message is mixed. Paint the town red, like me! Have a free phone. Fend for yourself. At the very least, all his aids and cabinet people could be minorities. I'd call that a great thing.
He has made only one memorable comment on racism, that if he had a son he'd look like the guy who tried to kill George Zimmerman. His activism seeks to excuse minorities from obeying laws and blames their ill behavior on white males. I'd say he's had little effect but it is what it is. Maybe he's wise enough to know it's a futile battle. Racism is part of our natural intuitive defense system, and is a big part of why humans still exist.
