<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Carmelo Anthony was seen on the hardwood, but not really heard, in his first three seasons in Denver.Coming off a strong performance at the world championships, the 22-year-old forward said he'd like to be a vocal captain with the Nuggets. While Anthony is viewed as one of the NBA's brightest stars, his becoming a vocal team leader may not be as simple as it sounds."He's mature for his age," Nuggets center Marcus Camby said. "I was saying last year that he had to be more vocal. This is his team. We all know that. He is ready to take that next step and be mentioned amongst the greats in the NBA."</div>Click the link below for more on this great article:http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_4424783

Hmm.. You always find interesting articles, don't you, BALLAHOLIC? This was another good read.I think Melo is good enough to be the Nuggets' team leader. He just hasn't demonstrated it in the NBA so far. For Team USA, yeah, Melo was the shining star, but we'll have to see what he can do for the Nuggets now.

The Nuggets lost there best big man off the bench in Nene for the whole season, Kenyon Martin hasn't been healthy all season, Marcus Camby missed a bunch of games and Melo STILL had the Nuggets leading the Northwest. What more do they want from the guy. He has put a team with injuries to key players in the playoffs by himself.Nene missed the ENTIRE season.Kenyon Martin missed 26 games.Marcus Camby missed 26 games.DerMarr Johnson missed 24 games.Earl Boykins missed 22 games.Eduardo Najera missed 18 games.Francisco Elson missed 10 games.Carmelo STILL lead his team to the playoffs despite never having a healthy roster. I think that is amazing.

I think it is the year for Carmelo to stand up and become a leader, and not only that, but continue on the road to superstardom in the NBA. A while back there was a thread on sleeper award winners, and if he leads the Nuggets to a 50+ win record this year, and his stats improve like they have every year, I think he will be in the mix for MVP. I am not saying he will win it, but he could maybe be in the mix.

This is gonna be Melo's first year on the All Star Team. Good. He deserves it.I think that it is good that Melo becomes more vocal because, as Camby said, everyone knows that it is his team. Despite being picked in the same draft as LeBron and DWade, he doesn't get mentioned near as much as he should.
