Heard #Yankees signed IF Yamaico Navarro to minor lge deal with invite to spring training. This according to Sherman and they signed Brendan Ryan and trade for Dean Anna from the Padres who is a utility guy. I would say now maybe start working on some starters no?
The market is just now taking shape. Reasonable expectations on contracts are becoming a reality, its a month away for most I feel also.
...mb, I'd imagine Boras and the rest of the agents are waiting to see what the Yanx are going to commit to...and the Yanx may or may not tip their hand until they know more about where they stand with ARod, and Cano too, for that matter. ...they can make some small roster moves now for bench/utility players etc.,but I just wonder how long it will take for Cano to sign. Seems to me that the longer he waits, the smaller the deal he'll get...just my 2 cents.
I feel the Yankee position with Arod and Cano grows advantageous to them with each passing day. I can see where if Texas was willing to go all in, they could package Profar and Moreland for whatever their needs are and go after Cano. If they added McCann, they would have a hefty lefty batting order. I can't see anyone else ready to take Cano on. Detroit now has Kinsler, and needs a 3B since I feel Miggy will be at 1B. I feel the Yankees are the only true destination for Cano. I do think the Yankees have learned from the Arod signing that they may be negotiating against themselves. We will have to wait to see if the lesson has been learned.
...yeah, I think other GMs have also learned from teams who gave out insane contracts that seemed good at the time but ended up hamstringing them in the end. The Yanx, Sox, Rangers, Angels, Phils etc., have all been burned. ...Cano already knows what the Yanx offered him earlier so I think the Yanx can sit back and wait Cano out because you just know that regardless of whatever offer he may get from another team, he can still hit the Yanx up for a few more Mil. I'll stick by my original guess of somewhere in the $150-$175 Mil range.
How good would that be. I think in retrospect, Cano will regret leaving Boras. The boys club known as the "Owners" aren't going to let J come in and hit a homerun his first time representing a high profile free agent. Cano is arguably the best second baseman in baseball but he's not Mr October or November. But like you said, 150-175 range would be huge and I assume that would be over 6 years which protects us from the inevitable slide at age 38 or later.
...yeah, 6 years/$150--years/$175...and I was thinking the same thing about Boras. By the time it's all over, I think Robbie will regret aligning himself with JZ.
Tell Jay Z to go fuk himself - then tell Cano -- THIS is going to be our offer...take it or leave it.....we'll be in the playoff hunt WITH or WITHOUT you. "Hope to hear from you soon".
