There's no Nate Robinson to come in off the bench and give the Bulls instant offense. There's no light at the end of the tunnel that Rose might return and lift the team back to championship contender. There's little hope that this group will be coming back next season. There's little hope anything gets done this year. The Bulls lost to the Jazz whom previously had just one win. Sure the Jazz were playing at home and Trey Burke was playing his first game with the team, but Burke shot 5/17 with five turnovers, and the Jazz scored just 78 in regulation. I know there's this belief that the Bulls can't tank, but players can give up on a season. Even good, hard working players. Several of the players on this team right now were starters on the 07/08 debacle that landed Chicago Derrick Rose. So sure, even our "good guy" players can throw in the towel and say "screw this". Maybe it's the curse of Mike Dunleavy. He's never been on a winning team, and this was his shot. He was so excited in preseason to compete for a title. Sorry Mike. That's why you never take less money. Read more http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-b...oss-to-jazz-shows-how-different-this-year-is/ I pretty much agree with the entire article. It is time to do something about this team the way it is put together. Deng being moved is a no brainer because we have Butler and Dunleavy that can cover the SF spot. Even Noah, the heart and soul of this team should be dangled, but moved only if it is worth the deal. Boozer won't be here next season if Mirotic comes over. We need guards that can do more than spot up and shoot. We need guards that can create and shoot the 3 consistantly.
Dumping Deng and Boozer for little value in return won't land us a guard that creates effectively. Not saying that the Bulls should not do that, just that they should not make a move here out of panic and not maximize whatever value they can get if the decision is made to player dump. You can get a guard that can create offense and not dump all-stars or break the bank. They had one in Nate Robinson and opted to let him walk out the door for a small contract. We are paying guys like Kirk, Teague and Mike James to be guards on this team. If the team simply doesn't have a guy that can create if Derrick gets hurt (even just for a few games) and our current guards can't get it done then its an issue of roster creation. I didn't like shedding Nate, like it even less now.
Yeah, not having a single shot creator on your whole damn roster for an entire season is a pretty big obstacle to overcome. The only time I remember the Bulls not having one was right after the dynasty Right now I'm not sure if we make the playoffs or not. I'd say it's 50/50, especially depending on future trades or injuries. We're tough and savvy, but a short bench, lack of any playmaker whatsoever, and general malaise might be enough to have the team turn it in.
Speaking about Nate, he scored 11 straight points in the 4th quarter last night to help the Nuggets beat the Mavs.
14th seed in the draft (last/worst) gets a chance at picks 1-3. Ping pong balls. Sure, we had to be really lucky to get #1 and Rose, but it did happen. But missing the playoffs wouldn't be my goal. It would be to improve the odds from .007 to get 3rd pick to the best odds we can. Yeah, I'd go all in, too. Shuffling the chairs on the deck of the titanic isn't a plan. It just gets us more picks like Teague.
