Re: Phil Jackson, "Kobe to take less shots"

This was a quote from Phil in part of an interview. This was on improving last year's record, and anything that Kobe needs to do more/less:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Well, probably Kobe's gonna have to take less shots. More players have to be involved in the aspect of scoring. That's something that has to be a conscious effort, because he can get shots and he knows how to get them, but it will be a conscious effort on his part as to how to do that. I don't have a number. I think shot 26, 27 times last year. Probably even 3 less or four less is going to be a marked difference. And that's okay, with that distribution, what we're emphasizing as a team is more creation of turnovers, blocked shots, steals. Things that get the ball back so that we generate more offense. That'll change that up a little bit. We've got some guys that can score. Vlade Radmanovic. People are going to need to have shots. Our shooters, Shammond Williams, etc. People that are going to be assets to us if we take advantage of them.</div>Maybe Kobe scores late 20's, early 30's in ppg? Will Lebron James finally be the scoring champ, or will it be Kobe again?

I would like to see Kobe play the way he did in the playoffs, but dont be overly unselfish. Take over when its necessary. Just let Lamar establish his post game early in the game to build his confidents.

Maybe Allen Iverson will win another scoring championship...?Well, I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I think Kobe will still have his "fire" moments.LeBron James? He may be a close contender if A.I leaves some scoring for Andre Iguodala.

Kobe will still have those days where he just shoots like crazy, but I guess I'll expect less shooting. It doesn't matter to me, as long as we win games I'm fine.

Kobe will do what he needs to do to win games. Phil will tell him what that is [IMG]I don't expect to see his scoring drop off too much.

Kobe will probablystill be around 31 or so points per game because he's still the only guaranteed scoring presence game in and game out. Considering that's where the battle usually takes place for scoring title, he'll still be in the mix.

I'm expecting Kobe to score like 27-29 and then have lamar score something like 19-21 points because phil wants a lot more even production out of the two. The difference between the lakers leading scorer and second leading scorer was the largest in the NBA. which is not what phil is looking for. he wants them to be MJ and Pippen.

19-21 ppg is probably a long shot for Lamar. I would say 17-18 at best..

I think him taking a few less shots per game wouldn't be a bad thing, but this team is still a bit immature, still a bit undisciplined, and still will need Kobe to get his 32-35PPG to get into the playoffs (especially with the West getting stronger). But him sacrificing to 24FGA's per game wouldn't be a bad thing.

He's a much better player when he's setting up other people for scores. As long as he's facilitating the offense, I'm happy.
