Oh really? How many conversations you had with an ancient civilization? I've seen pyramids and many other colossal feats built by these simpletons from your definition
no. I've never even been drunk. but as Denny pointed out all drugs do is alter brain chemistry and impair brain function. also it's trivial to show drugs cause people to hallucinate things that are demonstrably false. drug induced hallucinations are not windows into actually existing worlds we can't normally see.
And with those drugs comes intense feelings. There is no greater deceiver than that of human emotion.
I didn't say they were simpletons. They were just ignorant of certain things such as celestial mechanics and evolution that open paths to knowledge previously not even possible for them to envision. If there is some sort of continuation after death there is no reason to think it's necessarily beyond our ability to comprehend.
The cartoon on your avatar is a group of peeps that have done their fair share of psychs! I love adventure time!
I don't understand what it feels like, but that's irrelevant. I do understand drug induced hallucinations are demonstrably unreliable. That's trivial.
It's not about "what it feels like". It's actually seeing shit that isn't there. Or possibly seeing shit that is from somewhere else. I will not take one's opinion that hasn't experienced it first hand. Until you've been down the rabbit hole, your concept of it is unreliable.
I wonder if mags ever saw lizards or the walls breathe. Common hallucinations among people who do LSD. The fact that many see the same hallucinations indicates the chemical affects most people's brain chemistry and the effects are the same.
No, it indicates that there is one true god and everyone who takes drugs sees god in his true form. A lizard. barfo
I wish the picture you've posted was visible. It looks interesting. As your concept of same visuals. You are absolutely correct that many people have many "baseline" hallucinations. It's when people "mega dose" is where they see the next level. Most are extremely different. The walls breathing, neon strobing, melting and shit like that is "the waiting room". When you want to go further, you gotta break on through to the other side. Also, what if the "afterlife" is all the same? That maybe, just maybe the similar experiences are because we all go to the same place? Just throwing that out there.
I don't use drugs to prove God exists. I'm clearly pointing out that psychedelics has a very "spiritual feeling", regardless if you believe in God or not. I've met plenty of atheists that were heavy into psychs.
You bet. 99% of the world is invisible, undetectable with our senses. Can you see electricity? Or gravity? Or love? But they exist, even if you cannot "see" them. "Beyond silly" is to think that your 5 senses can comprehend everything in the universe.
My silly comment was not directed at the notion of things existing beyond our bodily senses. I was referring to the claim that drugs somehow add "extra" senses, or whatever you were implying.
I like this thread, I think we are very close to a final resolution of this question I'm not sure about the 99%. If you are saying that subatomic particles (electrons, gravitons) are part of the 'world' and we aren't seeing them, then isn't that in some sense 100% of the world? Can't see electricity. Can detect it tho. Can prove it exists. Same for gravity. Love, well, you know. Love is everywhere. Like the aether, which turns out not to exist, so that's a bummer. Senses don't comprehend anything, that's our minds. Senses sense, and we can extend our 5 senses with instruments. That's not a limitation to rationality. barfo
