Back in March, Beats announced a plan to launch a streaming music service codenamed Project Daisy. Today, the company's CEO, Ian Rogers, has posted a blog (via TechCrunch) stating the service will launch in January. There's no word yet on how much the service may cost, but Beats Music has launched a site where you can reserve a username now.

    beatsmusic

"When I joined Beats Music in January I’d expected we’d get this out the door before the end of the year," said Rogers. "Thankfully I work with people who have patience and are more concerned about getting Beats Music right than pushing it out the door. In retrospect we’ve accomplished far more this year than I’d imagined possible."

Apparently, the service is currently in beta with "artists and other influencers" giving Beats Music a test run. According to TechCrunch, the service may allow users to stream a playlist at the same time a celebrity user is listening to the same music.

Sounds lame unless they partner with Soundcloud or something else out there. The reach isn't good enough.

I've seen lots of ideas like this recently. The way people listen to music is changing as much or more right now as the video industry was changed by Netflix.

This might be successful just because of the name. I mean, that's the only reason the headphones are successful.

The headphones are kind of on the expensive side but the sound quality is fantastic!

They just play loud bass and treble. They aren't actually that high quality, and they're certainly not worth their price. Comparable headphones are usually much better.

I used to own Bose and Sony noise canceling headsets until I borrowed some Beats on a road trip. I was blown away at how good they sounded! Crystal clear with amazing bass and mids actually.

Put my other headsets on Craigslist the next day and bought some Beats for myself that afternoon. Been very happy with them. Doesn't matter if I'm listening to Jay-Z, Led Zepplin or Miles Davis.

Not sure why you think this?

This is pretty much my view on it:

I don't think they're bad, but as a principle, I don't like buying things that are higher priced simply because of the brand. It's common opinion that they are not the best quality headphones for how expensive they are.

I've tried the Beats headphones. They are on par with a run-of-the-mill set of headphones. They are a marketing gimmick.

Did you read this somewhere or have you yourself tested them. I don't know how you could make decisions on things without trying them out yourself. They are so outstanding in craftsmanship and sound I own the earbuds as well.

Interesting to me that just because something is popular some people on here wouldn't buy it.

I have no complaints. Well built, high quality.

I have used them many times..

It's not about how popular they are, they are overpriced.

Hey bro... My bass is so much stronger, and my highs are so much clearer with my Monster Cables. I run my cables in front of my equipment so everybody can see that I have Monster Cables.
