He came up hobbling during the game last night. He is the kind of guy who won't make excuses. Does anyone have inside info? HCP- is he okay?
He got laid out on a screen at the end of the game. You should check with someone else, to be sure though
It looks like he's tweaked his ankle a couple of times, he not moving like he was at the beginning of the year. It may be a chronic thing for Wes, he plays balls to the wall all of the time and it beats him up. In the last few games he has looked sore, stiff, and quite a bit slower.
He got hurt a bit in the first half. I loved it when he got fired up, even with that offensive foul he got on Westbrook. Surprised he didn't get a tech for that to be honest.
i dont want to see him or batum with any nagging injuries, if either of them get dinged up enough to drop off their play, sit them out till they are good. bench is deep enough to stay in a lot of games that said, dont get dinged up!
Doing without Wes would be a major problem. But if we were to rest him against some of the crappy teams, I'd love to see what Allen Crabbe can do. He's the closest we've got in that he's a good defender and a good shooter. Barton is just a whole 'nother kind of player.
I think I'd give Barton the burn. He's not the shooter that Crabbe is, but he's a slasher and our starting unit is lacking that a bit. I also like the defense that he brings. He's long. He plays the passing lanes well. I think Crabbe could end up being really good, but I think he's a little ways away. I'm excited to see how he does in summer league this summer.
It would be worth the struggle of playing Barton/Crabbe a bit if it kept Wes from being hobbled later in the year.
I agree, but I'm not sure if we really take a huge step back if Wes sits a few games. Plus, the games we have coming up might be the best time for him to rest. Utah and Dallas. I think we can live without Wes so he can rest up.
He re-injured his hip. It's not exactly the same place as the injury last year but instead a little lower on his hip and not nearly as severe as of now.
Utah has been playing well since Burke came back and they gave Indiana a run for their money. I would be nice to have a blowout win though.
Utah is playing well AND they (like every team) are going to be pumped up playing the Blazers these days.
He's a great player, but he does have his injury tweaks every season. I think you may be right. It may be a chronic thing for him.
The way Wesley was playing losing him for an extended period would hurt. As for his replacement, I'd probably give the nod to Crabbe because so much of what Wesley does is provide spacing in the offense, Barton wouldn't so much. We'd probably see Mo playing 30 minutes a night too.
