I'm just not that impressed with Hawes. He's a good player, but his career averages are 9 and 6. That's not that good. He's putting up good numbers now, but will that last? His career doesn't indicate that these numbers are the norm.
Asik would be nice but I think it would cost us CJ which it doesn't sound like Olshey wants to move him before seeing him play. The only way I see us getting Asik is in a three teamer but I don't even think that's realistic because who would want Leonard/Crabbe/Barton. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
this is ironic, it's the thing we see said all the time, that very often it takes C's time to develop. Well here is Hawes at 25 now playing some great ball, as he did for a while last yr until injuries slowed him down. My main worry with him is injuries, not if he is good enough.
You might be right, maybe he turned a corner, but have we played enough games to truly see if this is the Hawes that we can expect? It's an awfully big gamble if you trade CJ or Robinson.
Per 36 and advanced stats are all fairly comparable for Hawes, the biggest difference, other than opportunity, is he's got more freedom to shoot 3s this year(4.2 per game) and doing so at a good rate.
frankly given the other weapons we have here I think it is even easier for Hawes to produce those numbers in POR. I mean lets be realistic, CJ is another small SG in a league with many of those and while Trob has potential Hawes IMO has PROVEN way more then they have and they are the greater risks
can you imagine our lineup at times with a C that can bury 3's - LOL the opposing defenses would shit bricks
I think you're underselling CJ. One of the knocks on this team is our bench, and the lack of a super sub like a Manu, Crawford, etc. CJ could be that guy. He has the potential to be a real threat off the bench. If he can come back healthy and play like we saw during the summer league, I think he could be extremely valuable to this team. Robinson is a bigger question mark, but I think he has the potential to be one of the best rebounders in the league and a decent offensive threat. Trading potential is sometimes worth the risk, but is Hawes the missing piece? I'm not so sure.
I think he could be a "piece" for a WIN NOW team that wants to seriously challenge for the WCF and has already proven they are close, CJ is IMO not a win now piece nor is Trob
I knew someone would say that, Hawes averages almost 10 rebs a game and knows where to be on the court and Meyers still hasn't a clue, nice try though
I agree that TRob is not really a "win now" piece, but I disagree about CJ. He's a guy who can contribute right away. I guess we'll see when he finally comes back.
Would Phily take a package based around Leonard for Hawes? They want to suck and collect young talent and Hawes is going to be traded and realisticly he will net at best a mid to late first rounder. Is Leonard + crabbe or Barton better then a mid to late first? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
that's a tough one, I wonder if they would take a heavily protected 2016 pick with Leonard and change
He makes over 6 million, so it would have to be Leonard, Claver, and Freeland. Barton and Crabbe make pennies in the grand scheme of things.
It's the Stepien rule. We owe a protected first to Charlotte and until that is conveyed it complicates trading any other future firsts.
