Ok we have 3 needs we need to fill

2B & 2 middle of the order bats.

    The route I prefer is:

    1) Brett Gardner for Brandon Phillips
    2) Sign Choo
    3) Sign Beltran

    Opening Day Lineup:

    Ellsbury
    Choo
    Beltran
    Teixeira
    McCann
    Soriano
    Phillips
    Johnson
    Jeter/Ryan

Like your thinking big blue but only see 1 of beltran or choo and beltran only for 2 years. Could see phillips which would be nice. Only other problem I see with your line up is who is telling jeter he's batting 9th. Ha ha ha.

I agree with Beltran, he replaces Cano's bat. Choo I'm not sold on. Do not like the way lefties own him. I rather sign Infante and have more versatility. Then one more bat.

As the Red Sox proved if you have solid starting pitching you just need to add the right players and not the most expensive.

Good thoughts, with McCann, Johnson, and Ellsbury the Yankees are decent up the middle, Infante would solidify it.

Boston didn't just do it with pitching they led mlb in runs scored by a significant margin. We need to hope our pitchers bounce back like theirs did. Their framework supported homegrown talent which we don't have so following their fa Model doesn't fit here. We need to buy because we can't build. There is no big Papi available. Beltran is the closest thing. Absolute need now.

They need pitching before anything else. I wouldn't mind seeing Infante, Reynolds and Beltran to round out the positions.

What pitcher out there do you want? Tanaka isn't available and may not be. Do we let other starters sign and just hope Tanaka posts and secondly they are the ones to sign him? This offseason is a mess.

I hate losing Cano but to call it a mess at this point is overly dramatic. For pitching they signed Kuroda and need to either hope Tanaka does become available, sign one of Jiminez/Garza/Santana or hope your crafty GM can package some of the prospect who no longer have a place here (Romain or Murphy and one or two of the outfield prospects) for an impact pitcher. Need a back of the bullpen arm as well but those guys can emerge late.

I think good sign beltran not signed yet and hopefully he works out something with yanks. As for pitching I have a novel idea. The first 3 will be cc, kuroda and nova. Why can't the other 2 come from top prospects like pineda who we traded our stud prospect at the time montero for and Betances who should be healed from tommy john and has been raved about by yankee brass forever. Like the saying goes even the blind cashman is right on occasion (pineda and betances). We also have phelps who is young and didnt pitch badly last year for us. If none work out you can still get the same retreads we're talking about now which types are always available. Right now I am happy we didn't go 10 yr for 31 year old even if its cano which means outside someone like trout reaching free agency at 25 the 10 yr yankee contracts are kaput. Thank god. I am more optimistic than some of you. I say lets get infante and reynolds as insurance who can also play a little and go from there. As for power we still have tex, mccain, soriano for starters and ellsbury I think can get 15 to 20 at yankee stadium no problem. Same with kelly johnson all these guys hr numbers increase in yankee stadium. As for cano, his hr numbers with the ballpark, average as he will be pitched around and rbi's (hard to get many when nobody on base) will take a pretty good dive in my estimation which he will give less a shit about than usual cause he got paid. Oh wait, they just posted the opening day mariner lineup...... cano, cano, cano, cano, cano, cano, cano, cano, cano ..... well you get the picture.

...^^^ bb says the Mariners are better than the Yankees...how's that for "drama".

...as far as prospect pitchers, don't forget that Nuno didn't look bad at all last year.

Idk if you will need to give up Gardner for phillips, can probably get him cheaper.

I'd rather get Phillips giving less and paying more, and then trade Gardner for a SP. Brett Anderson is available but Gardner is worth more. then Sign Beltran and Choo

I just hope Ellsbury teaches Gardner the proper way to swipe bags.

...though he obviously has speed, Gardner to me, has never given me the impression of being very smart as far as running bases goes.

Right, totally agree. I had hoped Ichiro would rub off on Gardy. I like a lineup that can manufacture runs more than one that tries to launch everything.

Pitching. pitching, pitching.......this is the area of great concern. Yes,
the pieces are falling into place, but Cash man must rebuild the pitching
staff. CC is a BIG ? STARTERS 3 & 4 and middle relief
