Kevin Garnett- I would give up something valuable to me just to see KG win a title, He is getting nowhere in Minnesota.Tayshaun Prince- On any other team in the league he would be an allstar. He plays his role in Detroit's offense so you have to respect him for that. Allen Iverson- Why cant Billy King bring in somebody even half decent for AI? Alan Henderson isn't going to cut it.Jarrett Jack- His potential is sky high but Portland is a disaster zone.
In a few years, the additions that Portland has made is actually going to benefit Jarret Jack alot. I love what Portland did in this years draft. And if Randolph and Miles pull their heads out of their asses, this would actually be a pretty good team in 3-4 years.

Can you name another player who can claim that his team is holding him back, but he still makes it to the playoffs? Thought so.Just to add on to the list:Andrei Kirilenko: Great player, but may never even be considered Playoff material due to his lack of support.Ray Allen: He is one of the best G's in the league, but because his team sucks, he isn't getting anywhere.Paul Pierce: Great potential, most underrated player, etc. His team won 16 championships altogether in the past, but these days, P-Double can take over a game and still not secure a victory.
Andrei Kirilenko? He's half the reason his team never goes anywhere, he's always getting injured and he refuses to work on his offensive game. The Jazz are doing pretty well talent wise considering what they have come from.
I made this topic already, just reworded. Andre Iguodala's scoring would go up, but CWebb and AI take his shots.
Iggy would be up there with Chris Paul and Chris Bosh without AI....Iggy gets like 6 assist, 7 rebounds and 20points when AI is out.
I think Gasol's team hold him back to an extent. Watching the Maverick/Grizzlie series last year, Gasol was the only one who showed up on a nightly basis. No one ever became a solid number two option. Its kind of bad when your 2nd best scorer is coming off the bench. Mike Miller had a horrible series as he was outplayed by Jerry Stackhouse. Miller, Eddie Jones, and Chucky Atkins were suppose to be adaquate scorers for the team, but they never really showed up. Out of those 4 games, only Gasol shot the ball more than 13 times every game. He averaged 16 shots a game while those three other players mentioned averaged this.Gasol-64 shot attempts in 4 gamesMiller-30 shot attempts in 4 gamesJones-29 shot attempts in 4 gamesAtkins-37 shot attempts in 4 gamesI think this is a very telling stat. It shows that Gasol has to carry the team on his back because other players on the team aren't number 2 options. I would think that the 6th man of the year would of shot the ball more than 30 times in the series. I expected him to step up more, but he didn't. Gasol-18.25 PPGMiller-8.25PPGJones-6.75PPGAtkins-11.25PPGI really think they hold him back. The Mavericks series is just an example to show how much Gasol is held back by the play of his peers.
I agree that Iguodala is being held back, but once again, it's not Iverson taking away Iguodala's shots... it's Webber. And even with both Iverson and Webber taking 20-25 shots a night, Iguodala still gets his touches, but isn't aggressive enough offensively... he's just too passive when he gets the ball, not to mention he has not had a consistent outside jumper these past two years. If he has developed one over the summer (or EVER develops an outside game), he will be a scary player.
Paul Pierce? He has a young unproven cast with him and he is at a different level and is being held back on chances to make the playoffs right now \while he is in his prime.Kevin GarnettHe wants to win,but Mchale is making the wrong moves. KG is an MVP type player and eh can't be the leader of an unexpirience team.Allen IversonHe is doing everything right but Iggy has to step up,the Sixers are wasting too much talent with him.CWebb has to learn how not to be selfish in order to see the "real" Iguodala.
Tony, Tayshaun Prince would NOT be an all-star in any other system. that's nonsense. He is a decent player, simply put. He's not even worthy of being a #2 option right now. He's far from an all-star.

Also, how the hell is ray allen being held back, all he does is shoot and complain about everything. Maybe if he would step it up on the perimeter defense the team would be better and they would go somewhere, maybe even the playoffs.
You know what holds a lot of players and teams back?Friggin greed. The desire for the max contract, for the most money. I understand to an extent that the contract reflects respect, but at the same time how many teams would be better if a star agreed to LESS money to help the cap space? The best example I can think of was Shaq re-negotiating his contract last summer turning down his final season at 30 million to get 5 years at 20 million each. That saved the Heat 10 million dollars.Could you imagine if Lebron James had taken a minimum deal and the Cavs suddenly had more cap space? Wouldn't that have helped them this summer? Or during the next offseason?
Pierce, Garnett, Iverson, Brand.Basically all great players whose teams have not necessarily given them the most talent to work with throughout their career. Brand was obviously before the Clippers became a good team out West. Pierce and Iverson both had playoff runs before, but I don't really think that realistically they could have won with those teams, but maybe with some better second and third options.
