I see a lot happened while I was away... Beltran signed 3 year $45M deal Ellsbury signed 7 year $153M deal McCann signed 5 year $85M deal with a vesting option for a 6th year at $15M Kuroda signed 1 year $16M deal Johnson signed 1 year $3M deal Traded Stewart to Pittsburgh for a player to be named. Agreed to terms with INF Brendan Ryan on a two-year contract. Declined to offer 2014 contracts to INFs David Adams and Jayson Nix and RHP Matt Daley. Cano signed 10 year $240M deal with the Mariners Granderson signed 4 year $60M deal with the Mets Hughes signed 3 year $24M deal with the Twins Did I miss anything? Now IMO: Beltran's contract is 1 year too many, Ellsbury's contract is 2 years too many and way too much/year, McCann's contract is 1 year too many (2 if you count the vesting year), Kuroda was overpaid, but the Yankees needed (and still do need) pitching, I like the Johnson signing if its part of something bigger, alone, it's not enough, I liked trading Stewart for something, A little surprised they let Nix go Glad Granderson wasn't resigned, Glad Hughes wasn't resigned, Not incredibly happy to see Cano go, but he was given a contract way too long (by 4 years IMO), so I'm happy someone else has to deal with it for years 7 - 10. Now there is still tremendous needs on this team as I see it now. -Gardner will likely be traded if Wells is not DFA'd. Question is for pitching or 2B? -Starting Pitching is still a HUGE hole. We have CC coming off his worst ever year by far, Kuroda who imploded during the last two months of last season, and a bunch of question marks... no one else viable is really out there though IMO... -Bull Pen needs to be solidified... -3B/2B/SS (pending A-Rod's suspension and Jeter's health) are still in question and need to be addressed... -Tex is a question mark as far as health is concerned... insurance for him? As I see it now, this team isn't going anywhere without pitching which is sorely needed...
