2013 Projected Lineup on Opening Day for position players 1B Tex Injured, Replaced by Overbay, who did his best but wouldn't make team 2B Cano Star SS Jeter - Couldn't answer the bell, back up stone hands Nunez 3B Youkilis - 12 million a year for that LF Grandy Injured CF Gardner Dependable RF Ichiro - Popcorn hitter C Cervelli/Stewart, wow DH Hafner - 10 years ago, great signing, last year AARP would revoke his card 2014 Projected Lineup on Opening Day as of early December 1B Tex, healthy and a + over last year cause he will be healthy 2B Johnson as minus over last year SS Jeter + reasonably healthy 3B TBD but whomever will be a + LF Gardner = CF Ellsbury + RF Beltran + C McCann + DH Soriano =, plus as a DH, but was in lineup last year So it stands to reason that we enhanced or will be healthy at 6 positions over last year. 2 that will be the same, and 1 position with a hole or loss. Plus add Cervelli as backup catcher, Ryan as SS middle infield, and 2 more additions at 2B and 3B and there is no argument. Now we need pitching, everybody need pitching...
...no need to drink the hemlock just yet...looks like a pretty good line up to me...I think 2B and/or 3B will be upgraded before the season begins...pitching too.
^^^^ I agree with the minimum of one. either Infante with a platoon of Johnson and Reynolds maybe at third. Or a legit 3B with Johnson getting 2B. I also wonder for legal reasons how they are being advised to handle the Arod situation. I feel MLB should have demanded the final ruling on any appeals process before the Winter Meetings in the future. The Yankees aren't at fault for this process but not knowing about 27 million and the final outcome is a handicap that shouldn't affect the game they are trying to police.
... that's an angle I had not considered. I guess the Yanx are perhaps trying to appear less obvious in their pursuit of a replacement for ARod,, at least until the decision by the arbiter has been made public.
Otherwise there will be a suit filed for Collusion even though there isn't, right? lol... Arod has had more lawsuits than Hr's recently.
Things are looking much better in Gotham this year. Per MLB yesterday it seems that Infante wants more dust than the Yankees may want to pay.
really? That sucks... oh well... I heard his constraints were more that he wanted to be considered an everyday player than how much he was getting paid... but that was more than a day ago... so who knows what may still be the case.
Infante has a number of suitors, so I can't see him waiting too long before deciding on another team...
...if he has multiple suitors that is to his advantage and the longer he waits, the better the likelihood he gets a better deal because teams will become more desperate, IMO. But yeah, I'd rather this end quickly but I think someone would really have to blow him away with a huge deal...and if that's the case, I hope it's not the Yanx.
