Kyle Lowry has an expiring contract [at] $6.2 million and is not part of the Toronto Raptors' long-term plans. The Raptors are believed to be motivated to trade Lowry next following their trade of Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings. The Raptors acquired Lowry from the Rockets in exchange for a reverse protected lottery pick. Via Marc Stein/ESPN
What we want: a young player (pref. a forward), a draft pick, and/or cap relief (you'd have to be willing to take Landry Fields). Let me hear it.
I tried scouring the league but I couldn't think of anything that made sense. Seems Lowry and fields could be packaged but most teams would want to shed salary back. Might be best for Toronto to hold him. Every team seems pretty set at Pg.
Definitely not great. I'm unsure how raptors fans feel about carter. It would be a total we are tanking but want fans to still come to games move
If we're going to trade him for nothing we should at least give him to Brooklyn or New York or someone else in our lottery way at the moment. Trading Gay to 5-win Sacramento was no coincidence (though having Pete D'Alessandro working in Sacramento made it easy for Ujiri to call in a favour).
There are some goofy fans who have been pining for his return but the majority would loathe such a move.
Brooklyn could use a rental if Deron is going to be out for more of the season. Philly is thin at PG, Chicago could use some insurance, Milwaukee's PG position stinks, the Lakers could use him but don't have much to trade, and Utah might like to have him but they are tanking so probably not.
