Gabby was a prima dona and had to be moved. Alex The Great was told to switch wings and he took it like a man and found ways to score. Pussy Gabby cried...I cant play the opposite wing. That was done to strengthen the team, a coaching decision, but it was the player acting selfish and being apussy.

No one was complaing about the deal during the playoffs when the only player who seemed to show up was Brassard. Everyone had high hopes that Moore would make Del Zotto expendable. Funny how fast opinions change.

We know. You don't care about the Rangers...LOL.

I am going to the Devs board to show how much I don't care about them. Funny stuff...

Bring in a new coach, but you need to bring in talent that fits his system....the system that he excels at.....

I watch a lot of Devs games too but never in a million years would I spend my time on a Devils board talking about them

I think we can all agree with that Al

Sather molded this team to Torts liking and the team with the current roster of stiffs is incapable of playing another system. We have to suck it up for a year and hope he molds it to AV.

Just be glad that whether Torts is here or not his grinders wont be come July 2014

Here is the bottom line on Torts. The team that made the ECF was tailored to him perfectly. That is why we were able to grind our way to wins. Last seasons team was changed by Sather to have more skill. Thus it was no longer tailored to Torts, and he cannot/did not bend at all, so the team struggled.

This seasons team is a mish mosh of players. Not suited for AV's style. Not suited for Torts' style.

That's why this summer is huge. We have the space to make this an AV team fully. That is why next season will be the really telling season for AV IMO. In theory he and Sather should work hand and hand to make this an AV suited team next season. Just like it was a Torts suited team two seasons ago. The biggest knock you can make is saying why did you take a Torts team and make it a not Torts suited team last season? And then expect a coach like Torts to do well. That's the knock you can make. The knock on Torts is he did not bend or adapt to his players, which is what good coaches do. So it was the perfect storm really.

I dont think you need to sell out one way or the other on coaches as we saw the danger with cultivating your roster too much to a coach - When you change coaches you are screwed....but you have to give them more skill than this Ranger team has.

The other problem is our top guys must be our top guys and whether its due to injuries or age that hasnt happened

I have ZERO regrets about firing Torts and I still believe in AV. We are well positioned, its too bad we have a Sather as GM but we have some great pieces to build around, pieces other teams (cough cough NJ) would love to have.

Lundqvist is probably overpaid but at worst he is a top 3 goalie in the world and is locked up in his prime. There is no denying this.

Nash might be overrated but concussions aside he is still a very good 35 goal power forward

Kreider appears to be legit power forward as well who will be cheap for years and could easily be a 30 goal guy

Callahan is a strong captain who as he gets closer to 30 is injury prone but is still a good 25 goal 60 pt player with intagibles thru the roof.

The defense despite our banging on MDZ and others is still young and really good overall. We need McIlrath to develop and someday they need to find a true point QB but most teams in the NHL would love to have our problems on defense

This team needs to a first line center, another 2nd line winger and 3rd and 4th line depth. That is not impossible to get especially when you have nearly 40m in cap space to do it.

Alas we have Sather so who knows what this roster will look like

No doubt. You need to have some skill and some grinders, we agree. But this team is simply not even close to skilled enough to do what AV wants to do. Just the way it is. We need a skill infusion this summer. Along with having a banger on D. And a couple of bangers/grinders upfront. Having a Dorsett and Boyle on your 4th line isn't a bad thing in general. It is a bad thing when you have 6 guys like them, or similar in that they cannot score at all.

I agree with everything you said. I still think he got shafted by not having a full training camp to work ganby and nash together. Throw I'm Richards not showing up all year = fired coach.

I wish we had a couple of more "Pussies" that could score over 40 goals.:clap:
