Sorry, not drinking the delusional cool-aid a few of you are. This team had no 3rd and 4th line as it was. Now, you lose Callahan for 6 weeks, Staal of our defenseman core. This team is screeeeeeeewed. This season basically has a NY Giants feel to it. A year where everything goes wrong.

It's also not smart to wait for UFA. One, you overpay with UFA. Two, with 95% of all GM's being morons, if you look at these teams, the moron GM's lock all their players for the most part up for 4 to 6 years. While that might seem smart, it's actually very stupid. What that does is block prospects who need a chance and will be cheap for years. Those teams who do that then hope to trade players with those long term contracts for a good return. In reality, they shouldn't get squat for them. For example, St. Louis has to sign Steen. You could trade for Stewart for basically nothing who has one more year on his contract. You could probably offer then Hrvik and a 4th rounder for him. They have about 4 guys they need to salary dump to keep Halak and Steen. There are lots of teams in situations like that.

Only FA's I would really have interest in up front are Vrbata and Bolland. The rest of the mess I would try to fix with deals.

I like Stastny, Moulson, and Ott as well dump. Not if I had to way overpay, but on reasonable solid deals I like all 3 of those guys.

As for deals, that's kind of my point also. Make some good deals this season with an eye on next season. That's what I would do. Girardi (if we are out of it) and/or MDZ have to go. That simple really. I very highly doubt we re-sign both. So deal the one you won't re-sign. To hold both, and then have at least one just walk this summer, is beyond stupid. One for sure should be dealt by the trade DL this season. And we will get a nice return also since decent dmen go for a lot at the DL.

Vrbata and Bolland would be nice additions. Bolland would be more productive than Brassard and has more grit. Maybe sign a Hainsey or Niskanen to help round out the d corps. Theyll probably need at least two outside D. Would love to see a Yandle deal but thats probably not happening.

Much rather go via trades. Acquire picks and near ready NH prospects who will play for you on the cheap for 3-5 years. UFA just cost so much money. Vrbata and Bolland are two guys I like a ton. Other than that, pass.

With all that upcoming cap space i think we'll see at least 3-4 signings, especially with all the outgoing goose crap. Maybe they try and fill the 4th line with any of Lindberg Fast or Hrivik but i think they need an outside guy with experience too. We'll see if Kristo is ready to take a 3rd line spot too.

Have to agree with dump here. Build through smart trades, that's what Sather does best and maybe add one low key UFA like Bolland or Moulson.

Hagelin, MZA, Fast, and Kristo all in the lineup equals one smaaaaallll team. Going to need to get some big guys in FA to balance that out.

MZA should be trade bait this season at the deadline if we're out of it.

Changes have to be made on the defensive side. Aside from McDonagh, they have nothing. Their is a reason teams play aggresive against the Rangers, they don't fear there defense.

Like I said, when Sauer and Staal are pretty much done, your defense takes a massive hit. This team will be drafting high this year. They need to be sellers quickly now. They to acquire more physical defenseman and forwards. Hank has no confidence right now. Don't expect this team to get any better this season.

You know the season is over when 31 is longing for the days of Brandon " I don't score over 20 game stretches" Dubinsky. Sometimes you just have to admit your team sucks, make drastic changes and do a quick rebuild. First the lost Sauer which was a huge blow. Now Staal pretty much. That's 50% of your top 4. For a team that can't score, you are finished. Top that with Hank is having his worst season as a pro. We will be drafting high.

The organization is a complete mess right now from top to bottom. Dolan only cares about filling the new garden with corporate suits. Hard to be enthusiastic at this point when you have a crappy owner who only cares about making as much profit as possible.

Lundqvist is also putting them in a hole in too many games.

lol, funny that Dump brings up Dubinski's hot/cold stretches when his latest toy sensation Stepan has scored in 3gms this season. Let that one simmer for a bit. We've played 33 gms this year and our stud, pt-per-game, #1 center hasn't scored in 30 of them. But i'm sure Dump will have a built-in excuse for this.

Dubinsky has 8 goals in his last 55 games with Columbus. Can we just stop it with him already. I don't understand why some have the obsession of hanging on the jock of players that are gone.
