    Isn't that being generous with what race or ethnicity he was? the Greeks would take over a LOT of land and not everyone was "Greek".

    They took over a lot of different areas, and had different skin colors/ethnicities.

    Feel free to scour the web and rewrite it all to say otherwise. ;-)

    The actual Turks didn't take over the land until 600+ years after St. Nicholas died.

    St. Nicholas was just the root of the concept of Santa. His story merged with the Nordic people's' mythology, and certainly they were very light skinned.

    Santa's beard came from St. Nicholas. He was a bishop so the cardinal red of his uniform became the red (non-religious) clothing we see in hundreds of years' paintings of Santa. The whole North Pole bit certainly came from the Nordic legends.

    I really don't care about skin color in general, but the question of Megan Kelly's statement piqued my interest. I certainly don't see any foundation in the myth in any African origins.
