NYK owner and meddler James Dolan vetoed a trade yesterday that would've sent Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry to New York in exchange for Ray Felton, Metta World Peace, Iman Shumpert, and a 2018 first-round pick.

Today the Knicks are regrouping in an effort to land Lowry, working the phones in an attempt to put together a package that doesn't include Shumpert but still satisfies the Raptors' desire to land a young player and a draft pick.

Complicating the issue is that cross-town rival Billy King of the Brooklyn Nets is also interested in the point guard and is negotiating a trade with the Raptors.

The Nets are thought to be offering Mason Plumlee and Euro prospect Bojan Bogdanovic as well as salary ballast.

The Nets offer could be a shrewd attempt by King to motivate the Knicks to continue to cast-off long-term assets but the Raptors are deliberately offering Lowry to other lottery-bound teams (including the Nets) who would benefit from the trade and thus weaken their chances of finishing lower than the Raps.

GSW is also looking to get into the talks. Toronto is less likely to deal with them as per their designs on helping their lottery chances.

GSW could offer Marreese Speights and Festus Ezeli.
