Not sure what Philly is going to do with Spencer Hawes but he would be a huge addition to the Blazers bench and is actually younger than Freeland even though he's been in the league for 7 seasons.

15.3 points and 9.5 rebs with 3 assists and 1.6 blks shooting 50% from the field and 45% from '3'. He is currently on the last year of his contract making $6.5MM. If there was a way to get him, I'd trade any bench player, draft pick, $$$ possible to get him. That would help spread the floor for the 2nd unit, he would be great with LA and you wouldn't have to play Robin so much who is WAAAY over his career average in minutes. It would also give them another legit big man who I think they will need before the season is done.

    The future is now!

Wait for teams to start cutting guys, or until they are giving away peeps at the deadline. Will give the Zurs time to see exactly what they need as well.

For a rental I think that is remarkably short sighted

This would be my short-sighted, win-now trade. I think we need some front court scoring on our second unit.

You don't think Hawes would re-sign here?

Maybe not. What would you do with Evans though? Start him at shooting guard?

No. No that wouldn't. They want a starter back, almost sure of that. Doesn't have to be an AS... but, at least a starter.

Trades w/Philly. What would it take to get Spencer Hawes? Would he be worth a half-year rental? Is he the kind of addition a potential contender should make to strengthen their rotation for a playoff push?

He definitely can score. I wouldn't mind a big that can score for us. I just don't know what players we need to give up to get him. We get to see him in action tomorrow

By the way, with the way Howell is playing in Idaho, I'd personally be OK with including T-Rob in a deal (say for Hawes or Lowry) and signing Howell to fill his backup PF spot.

I like T Rob. I think he will be a solid guy off the bench. Now Freeland is a sport, but we need a more legit back-up center.

Freeland, Leonard, Barton and Claver are players I'd like to use

Don't get me wrong, I like T-Rob too, but if Robinson is the CoDB to get Hawes, I think you do it. Adding another proven big to our team could be just the ticket to solidify a playoff rotation.

But couldn't we do this without having to give up T. Rob?

I don't know. I'm not saying we can't. I'm not even saying that I think Olshey would want to. All I'm saying is if our trusted GM found it necessary to make that deal, I believe that Richard Howell would be an adequate--and available--replacement.

    Speaking of Mr. Howell:

    Pts: 21.7
    Rbs: 13.1
    Blks: 1.0
    Asst: 2.4
    Stls: 1.9
    FG% .616
    FT% .609

....helping lead the Stampede to a 7-0 start.

Exactly. I loved him at NC State, really wanted us to draft him, was stoked when we brought him for camp, and am still holding out hope that a spot on our roster opens up for him. IMO, he's Paul Milsap.
