When you try to separate all this from what is today's hype machines, imagine how Ty Cobb would of played in today's news circles. Even Ted Williams who was rough around the edges, DiMaggio's arrogant ways, and all that just leads me to let it go in one ear and out the other. It's like politics, today, they can spin a story to make a guy a sinner or a saint.
Good thing intelligent people filter as they read. Having spent 3+ years in the "Commonwealth of Massachusetts" I can understand the regions feelings about the Red Sox. I never cared for that team but on an individual basis I saw and respected Teddy Ball Game, Lynn, Rice, Yastremski, Fisk, and Dewy Evans. I wouldn't think "Big Sloppi" could shine their shoes.
...I've brought it up before but the "Boston Strong" BS still makes me shake my head. Don't get me wrong, the marathon bombing was a despicable act, but for Boston to somehow think that it compares to the WTC attack or Columbine or other such calamities, and then use it as some sort of rallying cry to hang their hat on for a fucking Baseball team is laughable. ...and for Ortiz to bellow "This is our fucking town" is just as laughable...he's a PED using opportunist and has been for years. ...there were actually more people murdered with hand guns in Boston during the 5 days following the bombing than Boston residents killed during the bombing itself...where was the outpouring of grief and "unity" for those people?..."Boston Strong"?...gimme a break.
Holy shit, I don't know who this hero worshiping ass kissing clown scoop Jackson is but yeah WOW! talk about over the top journalism. Absolutely laughable.
