I'm still trying to process. This is the same guy who reported that Thibs hadn't executed his contract when everyone else had written that it was complete, so I don't think this is just noise.

-- I'm surprised that Rose or Rose's camp doesn't think Deng will be back. I'll be pissed if the Bulls carry him through the end of the season and don't reup him at that time. I feel uncomfortable about the situation in general. Deng could also take less money to play somewhere else. He's had his run ins with the franchise.

-- I'm not pining over the loss of Belinelli, Robinson or, especially, Korver. Dunleavy is going to be able to get his shot off in the playoffs, something Korver has been unable to do. I liked Nate and Belinelli but neither of them are winning you a championship. It seems like he or his representation is making a big to do about players that were never real difference makers.

-- I'm fine with the Bulls signing Mirotic and amnestying Boozer. I think there's a pretty decent chance that the move results in a net influx of talent and a better formulated lineup.

Just to be clear, he got it right...

Thibs only recently signed his contract. April 4, 2013.

The Bulls and Thibs agreed to the contract on October 2, 2012.

    http://www.suntimes.com/sports/19271222-419/bulls-tom-thibodeau-finalizes-contract-extension.html

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said that any further concern about his contract extension that was still unsigned as of last week can now be put to rest.

Asked if he put his name on the contract, he replied, “I have.’’

    http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/stor...bulls-tom-thibodeau-agree-four-year-extension

The Chicago Bulls and coach Tom Thibodeau agreed on a four-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday.

The deal is "very close" to the reported $18 million deal Scott Brooks signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder over the summer, a source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com's Melissa Isaacson. The four years are on top of the option year the Bulls picked up on Thibodeau for the 2012-13 season.

The team shed talent to get to enough cap space to sign 2 MAX FAs. They ended up with Boozer and a shopping spree that netted us 3 very good players.

I don't see how you could have watched the team continue to shed players and replace them with lesser players each season since. I like Jimmy a lot. But Jimmy replacing Ronnie Brewer is not the same thing as Jimmy starting and Brewer being the defensive stud on the 2nd unit he was for us.

Without Rose, the team really sucks at this point. With the latest two we shed (Marco, Nate), we made 2nd round of the playoffs. To spin it any other way than we're sticking ourselves with the dregs of the waiver wire is blindness.

We ARE rebuilding, whether we like it or not. If we upgrade the roster at 4 positions that are key to the rotation, how is it not rebuilding?

Sorry, Derrick, but the reason we are in this mess is because you haven't played much in the past 3 seasons.

I agree Denny, we are rebuilding. Actually we have been rebuilding the last 2 years in terms of our bench. But soon some of the core is going to be affected by being traded.

Basically I think it is time to consider trading Rose, he is a great player who can't stay healthy and the last thing this team needs is for him to become the next Brandon Roy.

I think Rose still has lots of trade value but if he get another major injury all that value will be gone.

The team already has a nice potential lottery pick from the Tyrus Thomas deal so dealing Rose for additional lottery picks in this stacked draft could really help this team rebuild quickly.

Maybe Rose for Rondo and an unprotected pick this year.
