http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/chainsaw.asp This explains the myths/stories behind the movies. A lot of people I know think it really happened and they don't believe it when I tell them...I'm sure a number of you already knew this but I just thought I'd put it out there for you.

I can see where BCB is definately coming from in this(had friends who state it's real [IMG] ). People are so dumb these days and believe anything. Movies should stop using the "Inspired by a true story..." slogan as people take it out of context. There's so much leeway in that quote, movies like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre exploit and people fall for it, hook, line and sinker. Only thing I can see close to a true "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is Ed Gein who Tobe Hooper said was an inspiration. But even that is stretch. Basically, the whole wearing of people's skin is where the comparison dies, Ed Gein never used chainsaws and never killed in Texas. Oh and since this fits the topic somewhat, Quentin Tarantino did not direct "Hero" or "Hostel." :lol:Edited: Just noticed your avy BCB, Boondock Saints. Great movie.

I read a story about that guy a few years ago, he killed a few people with a gun. :lol:haha, this reminds me of in the beginnning of anchorman it says "This is based on a true story. Only the names, dates, and events have been changed."

Yeah, one time I told this girl that The Incredible Hulk was based on a true story. At first she didn't believe me, but I kept telling her that and she eventually did. Then I laughed at her.Yeah, I'm pretty much Cartman.

They could say the Day After Tomorrow is inspiried on a true story and people would believe it.

I never even knew there was a myth before about a munchkin hanging caught on camera. Good thing it turned out false. I stand by the Little Mermaid having hidden messages and pictures.
