They help fund their madrasas and allow them to have a voice in internal politics and social policies, and the Wahhabists don't foment internal revolution--they foment it out of Saudi Arabia. I don't think it was official Saudi policy to attack the United States, but I do think there are members of the Saudi Royal Family who fund Al-Qaeda, and many more who are sympathetic to their cause. The bottom line is we can rid ourselves of this rat-infested hellhole of a region if we just decided to become energy independent. Drill here, drill now, drill everywhere. Buy oil only from North America. Build nuclear power plants. The Middle East should be left to settle their own conflicts. Enough of our blood has been spilled trying to bring these barbarians into the 18th Century.
