It's time to knock off that 1990-1991 team.
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/1991_games.html

I've been looking at their schedule. The earliest we could pass them would be if we went 28-4. That sounds pretty daunting. To tie we would have to go 27-4.

The 90-91 team got their 4th and 5th losses on December 30th and January 3rd.

To reach 28-4, we would have to win these games:

    Cleveland
    Minnesota
    New Orleans
    LAC
    Miami
    New Orleans
    OKC

    That seams nearly impossible.

Pretty improbable, but I've stopped betting against this team.

Indeed. Funny enough, it's New Orleans that scares me the most. They gave us trouble last year, and they have a better roster with Holiday.

    New Orleans blows without Davis.

I'm glad you started this thread; I was going to last night when I started looking up the exact same thing as you, but didn't want to jinx it :ghoti:

Never. The start of the season doesn't end until we say it does.

That LAC Miami and OKC 3 out of 4 is daunting. If we go 2-1 in those three that would be phenomenal!

Are you saying we can still go 18-2?

Yes, but not as hard as the Jan 17th four games in five nights next month @SAS @DAL @HOU @OKC.

We’ve definitely started the year with the easier portion of our schedule. After tomorrow we’ll have played 10 bad teams on the road but only have 7 bad teams on the road the entire rest of the season. We’ve played our toughest 5 opponents all at home. Its great that we’ve got so many wins in the bag, we’re beating every single team we should beat, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this team plays just a bit over .500 until the end of March. Hope fans don’t turn on the team when those tough stretches hit us.

On the plus side we don’t have any road trips or back to backs the final 3 weeks of the season so that should let us get wins and well rested for the playoffs.

I don't see Phoenix on the list, so it is possible.

Flat out, we are winning the games we are SUPPOSED to! That hasn't been the case recently.

Just to give an idea of how ridiculously easy our road schedule has been to this point compared to what it will be like the remainder of the season:

10 Bad teams played on road after tomorrow=SAC, BOS, TOR, BKN, MIL, LAL, UTH, PHI, DET, CLE
7 Bad teams we get to play the rest of the season = SAC, WAS, NYK, CHA, ORL, LAL, UTH

4 Good teams played on road so far = PHX, DEN, GS, PHX
20 Good teams we have to play on the road the rest of the season = MIN, NOP, OKC, SAS, DAL, HOU, OKC, GS, IND, MIN, LAC, DEN, MIN, HOU, MEM, SAS, NOP, MIA, ATL, CHI

So we've played 59% of our road games we get to play against the crappy teams
We've only played 17% of our road games we have to play against the good teams.

I hope they finish the season better than the 90-91 team did.

Honestly, I would be thrilled if this team made it to the WCF. We're young enough that I think just making it that far would be a huge accomplishment.
