I think it has changed the dynamic of the game. It's more fun, faster paced, higher scoring and no lead is safe. I think this has helped the league actually

Yes. And is this Zach's subtle way of tip toeing onto the L-Train/Rip City bandwagon?

"[the suns]Apologies to the Blazers, but this is the best story in the league — the team too good to tank."

Guess not. We know you're sorry Zach, but for different reasons that what you should be sorry for. He's still an incredulous Kevin Love fan boy and drones on about Houston way too much. He has yet to acknowledge the Blazers are even a play-off team. And, it's saying something when I call someone else long winded.

On the last BS report he had good things to say and said we are a top 4 team. May not have written it but he did say it on a podcast. Also said he doesn't believe but the stats are making it harder to keep that up.

Your habit of calling anyone on earth out for not sucking Blazer cock 24/7 is getting old... They can't even like other players or teams without you insulting them? WHO GIVES A SHIT? Why do you need constant affirmation that the Blazers are the best in the history of the universe?

Blazer Fanatic has a problem with a member of the national media? Didn't see that coming.

As for the three-pointer thing, I guess it all depends on how many teams ride that strategy to the finals and win titles with it. So far, the teams with the top-five players seem to collecting iron, but the Spurs and the Magic (with Dwight) certainly showed it can be a viable strategy - but it probably still has to be paired with a good to great defense.

When they brought in the 3pt line, lots of guys started practicing it and shooting it, and these days the 3pt shooting %s are higher than they were in yester years. All you have to do is shoot 33% to = 50% from 2pt range, and if you look at league averages, the ONLY spot on the floor that is more effective is point blank, 5 feet and in. But it's much easier to get a 3pt shoot than shot right at the rim.

ya know, Blazer Fanatic A) Does not need me to speak up for her. What ever challenge you feel up to, well, you are going to have your hands full. B) She has a vary valid point, in my opinion. You would not talk top fifty players, and not bring MJ into the conversation. Strike one. C) The article was as she stated. Long on rehash, long on fan boi. Strike two. D) Complaining about the style of play is ridiculous. One hand he is blaming the old guard and on the other he complains himself..pfft. Strike three.

Perhaps there was a more recent podcast I didn't listen to. It's telling though when Simmons, of all people, is saying "Wow! You don't think they'll make the playoffs?!?!?" One of his first lengthy posts of the NBA season was an indictment of Portland's success being short lived. Maybe I'm bias in poking fun at his inability to even agree with Simmons on the Blazers. I'm OK with that.

Basketball, like other sports are cyclical.

The cover 2 and the 46 defense used to dominate the NFL, but now they are obsolete

I think the 3 pointer will stay around for a while as a reliance and then fade away like other aspects of the game not called the pick and roll

I think 3 pt shooting is changing the NBA game, like it has in college.

In college, the 3 has become such a high percentage shot that you you would rather pass up the easy 2 for a wide open 3, sometimes contested 3. In the NBA, as players become better and better 3 point shooters, we will see easy 2 point shots passed up for someone to take a 3 . . . if we haven't reached that point already.

To answer the question posed in the thread, yes and no...it's about whatever the best shot is given the circumstances. I think the team is trying to attack the rim with less success from the guard position and not getting to the line when driving in the paint. That's a work in progress and in my view, there's progress. Stotts believes in the 3 and we could argue that tactic but 21-4 kind of takes the wind out of that idea. LaMarcus, Robin and TRob don't shoot 3's however I think they've done a great job of putting the ball in the hoop. What is amazing to me is that we can put 4 3pt shooters in the game at any time. That's rare.

This has been a natural evolution. When the Bigs are not allowed to bump (Because the game was too physical) and becoming so guard friendly..ticky tacky whistles if you break wind at a league fan favorite..the star iso snooze fest

And in the mean time... why not abuse the heck out of the real estate behind the arc till the League or teams force the Blazers to do something different? ;)

I think these are both really good points. I think great passing and great shooting are a part of the game that disappeared when the highlight reeel dunkfest was the flavor of the month. Guys who want and have long productive careers can't be highlight reel dunkers for 82 games without increasing the risk for injury by a large margin. We're healthier with this style of play as well.

I don't even know what you're talking about... Did you mean to respond to me? I was clearly referencing Blazerfanatic taking exception to the fact that someone thinks Phoenix is a better story in the league than the Blazers and how they like Kevin Love yet had the audacity to not mention the Blazers. That's what I quoted, so that's what I was responding to... pretty complicated, I know.
