It won't happen but this team needs some confidence. I like it.http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sport...cle_1306655.php
walton must have inherited his father's craziness they aren't even considered to be a contender in the pacific division and he's saying they're title contenders wow that's idiotic.

Dwight howard said the magic can win the championship. It's all about motivation and if everyone believes it the team plays better.

It is possible. Shaq promised the Heat a championship and they won one in his second season as a Heat member. Also, Luke may speak through a fluke or whatnot, but it could be the truth. Who would have expected the Heat to get past the Chicago Bulls after that slow start in the Playoffs? As a matter of fact, who would have expected the Heat to win the championship after the Mavs lead 2-0? I know you didn't expect the Heat to win the championship, especially since Shaq hardly played games in the regular season and DWade became the main contributor for the team. However, the Heat won due to confidence. The Lakers may seem over confident, but you never know. Anything is possible.</span>
The Lakers actually had a shot this year. Not a good shot, but a chance nonetheless. The Suns and Clippers were both teams that they should've/could've (but didn't) beaten, and they play the Mavericks very well. I think they could've given them a run for their money.

That's how it is.</div>I don't think that their expectations are that high.... at least not anymore. The Lakers will most likely make the playoffs this year, but are not and will not be title contenders, unless a major trade is made. Although the idea of boosting a team's confidence through saying this is a good idea, I don't think that anyone, not even the Lakers themselves think they are title contenders.
Well managment is pretty realistic, but you should hear some of these old fans! They have some lofty standards. I'll admit, I'm one of them.

Anyone with a brain knows the Lakers are not good enough to win a championship, I don't care what Luke Walton says. We all know the Magic are not good enough to win a championship, I don't care what Dwight Howard says. We all know the Bucks are not good enough to win a championship, I don't care what Michael Redd says. Yes Shaq said the Heat would win a title but they, dee-dee-dee had the talent to win a title. There's a big difference. Michael Redd and Dwight Howard know they are not good enough to win a title, they know it, don't tell me they don't realize it. It's just what they say to the media..etc..
Any team that makes the playoffs, can win a championship, it doesn't matter wether its the Boobcats or the heat, they can all win, and theys hould all be going into the season thinking their going to come off the season with another ring.
I think most people agree that Kobe is pretty much the only player that can beat a team by himself...If combine an ability like that with some talent, anything can happen.

Thats all nice and dandy to think that way, but this isn't fantasyland. Just because a player thinks they won't win a title doesn't mean he's not going to give it everything he has. Every player knows in their mind if they will win a title or not, and honestly, not every team that makes the playoffs has a chance to win the title. The chance that the Warriors of Wizards will win a title if they make the playoffs, honestly, not much of a chance. Look around the league the last 10 years. Teams are what they are and their are rarely many upsets in the NBA playoffs anymore.
