Both of these players came into the league and played like stars right away and they both won the Rookie Of The Year awards at the ends of there rookie seasons but the question is who had a better year between the two? I believe Tim Duncan had a slightly better year because of the fact that he was voted into the NBA All Star Game that very year meaning so far there has not been a NBA All Star game without Tim Duncan since he's been drafted. Lebron on the other hand did not get voted into the All Star Game the year he was drafted even though many may of thought he should have because of the unbelievable year he was having. What do you all think? Bonus Question: Who do you think would've won the award had Lebron and Tim Duncan been Drafted the same year?

But yeah, 22/12/2.5 on 56% shooting is absolutely amazing for a rookie, and he got his team fairly deep into playoffs where Bron's team didn't even make playoffs.
LeBron appeared great. However, I'm going with Tim Duncan because his RoY was insanely better. He lead his team to the playoffs and managed to get into the All-Star Game. LeBron wasn't even close...
Umm... isn't part of the reason the Spurs were successful was because David Robinson was no longer injured? Because wasn't his injury what made the Spurs SUCK so bad they GOT the draft pick? Hall of Fame bound David Robinson? And who on LeBron's squad was Hall of Fame bound?I really don't know which I think was better as a rookie, but let's not pretend the ONLY reason the Spurs were good was because of Duncan.

In his first season Duncan was averaging better #'s than HoF bound David Robinson, so you can most definately give the bulk of the credit to Duncan.
I'm not saying that Lebron would have won it but Duncan had the guidance of Robinson and the leadership of Avery. They were a playoff team even before Timmy got there..........while Lebron has to be a leader right off the bat.
Tim Duncan, but if his was a thread for whos better it would be Lebron..just easier for a big man rookie to dominate than a PG/SG/SF

I always knew that Duncan won ROY, but I had no idea what kind of stats he had, and consider that he played alongside a Hall of Famer and they had to share the post together. Considering that, and that Lebron was the lone star on his team and he was worse then that you have to go with Duncan just based on stats, and if you get into playoff apperances Duncan kills Bron again too. Duncan had the better rookie year.
Duncan, because he started out in his prime. And since this is about rookie seasons, it's gotta be TD. LeBron was way overhyped in his rookie year and maybe that's the reason why Tim Duncan is winning this comparison, but I mean just look at the statsheet... both are incredible but Duncan's is both incredible and amazing. And seeing how both played out their sophomore season, it really shows that Tim Duncan was for real (even though he had a great team alongside him, but he was still the obvious leader of the team)
Cmon man, of course it's TD. He had him beat in numbers, records (even though Duncan had a much better team around him), accolades, and defense. Don't forget, TD was All Defensive First Team and All NBA First Team in his rookie season. I don't see an area where Lebron had him beat.
